Position Role Type:

This position is for a Quality Assurance Technician (QAT) whose role is to partner with production/operations to improve the quality consciousness for the site’s workforce. Conduct quality analyses through audits, process walks, and surveillance for process compliance to Business Quality System (BQS). Assist in managing process corrective actions and analyzing effectiveness of corrective actions and suspect product containment. Perform other QA functions as needed.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Performs product/process audit and audit preparation.

  • Monthly Floor Sweep / Process walks / Surveillance / Certifications

  • Acceptance Stamp Control

  • Audit Support (Internal/External)

  • Production Support

  • Daily Production Floor Walk

  • Provides real time Quality support to production and inspection

  • Assists with troubleshooting and product inspections

  • Answer clarify part handling ESD questions

  • Answer SAP/Paperlite and other production related questions

  • Reads and interprets complicated blueprints and specifications, including customer and vendor specifications.

  • Training

  • Training for new employees

  • Works with operators and inspectors on skill development

  • Containment / RCCA – Process Improvement

  • Support the Corrective Action process as needed as a subject matter expert.

  • Coordinates containment activities with Quality Engineers

  • Participate in CI activities as member of the QA Department, and actively seek opportunities for process improvements.

  • Identifies causes of rejects and ensures corrective action is taken.

  • Assists with gathering data for of technical reports, inspection/ test plans, standards and acceptance criteria, and procedures/work instructions.

  • Line Quality Awareness / Quality Alert / Customer Issues

  • BQS

  • Proficient in production related documents (BQS/QMS).

  • Participate in change management process and communication of changes impacting production floor

  • Inspection

  • Review and Approve First Article Inspections (FAI).

  • Uses a variety of measuring devices, testing equipment's, and statistical control processes.

  • Understand in Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)

  • Non-Conformances

  • Understand non-conforming material processes

  • Manages flow of non-conforming materials (NCMs) in accordance with site policies and procedures

  • Travel

  • Assist other Collins Sites as needed.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned or required.

Interpersonal Skills:

  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills requiring minimal supervision

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.

  • Good communication skills (written/verbal) with an aptitude for conveying complex technical information to a wide variety of audiences.

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and productively with team members and cross functional teams.

    Qualifications/Experience Needed:

  • Ability to interpret and work from blueprints, customer specification, purchase orders, written and verbal instructions as required

  • Experience in Quality Assurance conducting inspection using hand tools such as calipers, micrometers, height gages, depth gages, CMM equipment, etc. preferred

  • Demonstrated ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications and other project and engineering related software programs

  • Knowledge of SAP ERP, TeamCenter PLM System

  • Typically requires HS Diploma or AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training) with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience or i n the absence of a HS diploma, GED or AA/AS degree, 6 years of relevant experience.

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 83,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
