Principal Project Engineer - ACTT (Onsite)

Job Summary:

The Air Combat Test & Training (ACTT) engineering department is responsible for the design, analysis, test and certification of Air Combat Training systems. We solve the challenges of next-generation pilot proficiency training so they can “Train as they Fight”. We field Test and Training range systems with state-of-the-art technology in cryptography, datalinks, navigation, communication, networking and command and control. We specialize in highly accurate, highly secure solutions for U.S. DoD customers. We are a system of systems development team that designs, integrates and supports some of the largest, most complex solutions offered by Collins Aerospace.

Job Responsibilities:

This position is for a Technical Project Manager (TPM) who leads engineering design and development activities for the Enterprise Range Systems team. The TPM is responsible for engineering execution to budget, schedule and scope. They serve as the primary technical interface to the customer and business leadership.

Additional responsibilities of this role include collaborating across the integrated project team (engineering, program management, operations, finance, contracts, business development) to achieve program objectives, managing the engineering bid and planning process, leading the development battle rhythm and cadence, developing strategic roadmaps and driving predictable program performance. This leader should be highly motivated, have a passion for meeting commitments and flexibility to support a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Basic Qualifications:

  • This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in the appropriate discipline and 8 years of relevant experience or an Advanced degree in the appropriate discipline and 5 years of relevant experience. In the absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience is required.

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen

  • Must have or be capable of obtaining a US Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance. Candidate selected will be subject to a government security investigation/reinstatement and must meet eligibility requirements

  • Experience in the following areas of responsibility

  • Leading a team in defining requirements, developing system architecture and design, and performing integration and verification across multiple systems.

  • Leading a development team in an Agile framework

  • Bidding, planning and managing project budget, schedule, and scope

  • Supporting business pursuits and developing technical approaches that satisfy customer most-important requirements within a defined cost-to-win.

  • Proactive management of program risks and opportunities

  • Creating collaborative team cultures that drive predictable program performance to consistently meet business and customer commitments

  • Communicating effectively to a host of stakeholders across the technical spectrum, including customers, program management and senior leadership.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in air combat and/or training concept of operations

  • Experience supporting business development and program management in creation of business cases and product roadmaps

  • Experience in NSA certified developments

  • Experience as engineering bid lead on large, complex pursuits

  • Preferred applicants will currently hold a Secret (or above) security clearance, or have held one within the past two years

The salary range for this role is 96,000 USD - 200,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
