Cleveland-Cliffs Inc. Process Coordinator in East Chicago, Indiana

Cleveland-Cliffs Steel has an immediate opportunity for a Process Coordinator at our Indiana Harbor operation in East Chicago, Indiana. Process Coordinators develop solutions and implement projects that improve the process and reliability for the plant, along with working collaboratively with our bargaining unit, operations teams, and outside contractors. We have multiple openings throughout the facility.Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Direct union craft employees who are responsible for maintaining operating equipment through time-based, conditioned based, predictive, and emergency actions.

  • Supervise completion of work assignments and follows established department plans.

  • Enforce safety regulations, conducts daily safety communications, monitors monthly safety activities, and conducts safety inspections as needed.

  • Create, read, and analyze charts, work orders, production schedules, and other records and reports.

  • Resolve equipment failures during scheduled shutdowns or “breakdown” action.

  • Confer with other supervisors to coordinate operations and maintenance activities within or between departments.

  • Maintain spares inventory.

  • Interpret specifications, blueprints, job orders, and company policies and procedures for employees.

  • Responsible for personal matters, including training, development, discipline, safety programs and policies for direct reports.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in engineering or High school diploma/GEDandfive (5) years front-line maintenance supervisory experience.

  • Three (3) years experience as a front-line maintenance supervisor in a heavy industrial environment, preferably in a steel mill.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Three (3) years’ experience as a front-line maintenance supervisor in a heavy industrial environment, preferably in a steel mill.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or for the exceptional candidate, a high school diploma with significant commensurate experience.

  • Able to read blueprints and schematics.

  • Knowledge of mechanical drives, hydraulics, and crane systems.

  • Able to problem solve and make decisions.

  • Able to perform failure analysis.
