Be a part of the team accepting the exciting challenge to return mankind back to the Moon and beyond. The ESSCA contract provides engineering, scientific, and technical support to NASA Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC) in Huntsville, AL. Our Thermal Analysis and Control team is a high performing group executing challenging tasks for thermal and fluids design, analysis, and test support of the Space Launch System (SLS), Human Lander System (HLS), Deep Space Habitation and Mars Ascent Vehicle (MAV).

Working independently and in an integrated, collaborative team, your responsibilities would include:

Thermal engineering support to the DDTandE (design, development, test and evaluation) and sustaining engineering of spacecraft, payloads, satellites, vehicles, and technology development projects.

Requires expertise in heat transfer, passive/active thermal control, thermal protection systems, testing, thermal/fluids analysis, verification, operational support, etc. as required by the specific task or project

Conduct technical reviews to ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and company guidelines. Meticulously assess designs, analysis reports, and test plans ensuring they align with standards and requirements.

Stay updated with latest advancements, emerging technologies, and industry trends related to thermal management.

Job Requirements:

A degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field is required. A degree from an ABET accredited university is preferred. Typical educational requirements are the equivalent of an MS with at least 18 years of related mechanical or aerospace engineering or BS with at least 20 years of related mechanical or aerospace engineering experience.

Required skills and experience:

At least 10 years of relevant experience in the field of launch vehicle or spacecraft thermal systems analysis.

Strong knowledge of engineering principles, standards, and best practices related to thermal analysis.

Experience in overseeing the development and optimization of in-line products within the thermal subsystem.

Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Demonstrated leadership abilities with experience in leading and motivating engineering teams.

Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to anticipate challenges and propose effective solutions.

Knowledge of industry regulations, standards, and safety practices related to aerospace thermal management.

Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.

Flexibility to adapt to changing project requirements and priorities.

Technical writing and presentation capabilities.

Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).

Highly desired skills and experience:

Thermal/structural and thermal protection system analysis experience.

Proven experience in design, analyses, and integration of thermal systems within aerospace or similar industry.

Experience with Thermal Desktop, AutoCAD, and/or ANSYS.

Prior experience with NASA or DoD or its contractors.

Familiar with NASA or DoD standards and specifications.
