Consumers Energy Sr Data Scientist in JACKSON, Michigan

Location:

The successful candidate will be expected to work in a hybrid status of reporting to any Consumers Energy Service Center every Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday with home office flexibility on Wednesday and Friday.

We are looking for:

The senior data scientist role will lead support for the data output process. They will work with the business to establish requirements and data request for analytical strategic projects. A senior data scientist will have an understanding of the business needs of organizations and the ability to generate actionable insights using various methods.

  • Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems

  • Knowledge and understanding of data modeling, machine learning algorithms, statistical analysis, data visualization, and data engineering.

  • Project management knowledge, ability to identify the project/business requirements

  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.

  • Ability to compile, organize, interpret, and communicate data and results concisely

  • Mastery of process management skills

  • Strong acumen in quantitative analytics and structured problem solving

We encourage you to apply if you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in data science, information technology, data analysis, or related field with seven (7) or more years of applicable experience

  • [OR] Associate’s degree in data science, information technology, data analysis, or related field with eleven (11) or more years of applicable experience

  • [OR] High School Diploma with fifteen (15) or more years of applicable experience

  • Experience in data science, statistical analysis and modelling data using leading Artificial Intelligence and big data tools (e.g. TensorFlow, R, Python, Azure SQL Server & ML Studio, Databricks, Python Power BI, etc.)

Preferred skills:

  • Certified Analytics Professional Certification

  • Masters Degree

In this role, you will:

  • Build advanced analytical models utilizing statistical and machine learning knowledge.

  • Work with subject matter experts to build domain knowledge that can be applied to predictive and prescriptive analytics projects.

  • Build visualizations to turn data science outputs into digestible and actionable results for business partners.

  • Be responsible for planning, organizing, and controlling resources/processes to achieve project/program objectives within scope, time, quality, and budget constraints.

  • Lead and conduct an analytics initiative from ideation through production and adoption and have an understanding of the life cycle of an analytics initiative and the common pitfalls.

  • Communicate data science outputs and support the creation of models and solutions that provide insights for the business to interpret and execute successfully.

  • Prioritize business initiatives and structure projects for optime success taking into consideration budget, head count, and regulatory requirements.

  • Other non-essential duties as assigned or may be necessary.
