Burns & McDonnell Corporate Change Manager (Kansas City) in Kansas City, Missouri

The Corporate Change Manager will play a key role in building the enterprise change management capability at Burns and McDonnell. This role will lead the development, execution, and maintenance of the business unit change management portfolio. This role will focus on changes to culture, job roles, organizational structures, and business processes, systems & technology. This includes creating and implementing change management strategies and plans to maximize employee adoption & usage and minimize the resistance of large-scale change initiatives. The goal of the Corporate Change Manager’s work is to increase benefit realization, value creation, ROI, and the achievement of intended results and outcomes of organizational changes.

  • Lead development and implementation of comprehensive and structured change management strategies and plans for initiatives, ensuring alignment with business goals and objectives.

  • Assess the current organizational culture and readiness for change, and design interventions to foster adoption of change initiatives.

  • Lead creation of clear and effective communication plans to articulate the purpose, benefits, and timeline of changes to all stakeholders, fostering understanding and buy-in.

  • Lead the identification and engagement of change champions and stakeholders at all levels of the organization to drive advocacy and support for changes.

  • Lead the development and execution of training programs and workshops to equip employees with the skills and knowledge required for successful adoption of change.

  • Manage and monitor the effectiveness of change management strategies, gathering feedback and data to make continuous improvements.

  • Collaborate with project teams to ensure change management activities are integrated into the overall project plan.

  • Monitor and track change management implementation progress, providing reports to management.

  • Address potential sources of resistance to change, developing strategies to overcome challenges and maintain momentum.

  • Lead development and transition of metrics to track the progress and impact of change initiatives, providing regular updates to leadership and stakeholders.

  • Provide coaching and support to people managers to effectively guide their teams through the change process.

  • Consult and coach change management practitioners and project teams on change management principles and methodology.

  • Advise leaders on sponsorship and change management efforts to increase adoption of changes introduced into the organization.

  • Develop and maintain business unit change portfolio.

  • Manage business unit change practitioner community of practice.

  • Develop and facilitate competency-building workshops for all levels of the organization.

  • Collaborate with Enterprise Change Management team to build the change capability of the organization, share best practices and develop organizational standards for applying change management.

  • Stay current with industry trends and best practices in change management, integrating new insights into strategies and approaches.

  • All other duties as assigned.  

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, organizational leadership, or related field.

  • 7 years of experience.

  • A solid understanding of how people go through a change and the change process.

  • Experience and knowledge of change management principles, methodologies, and tools.

  • Exceptional communication skills – both written and verbal.

  • Excellent active listening skills.

  • Ability to clearly articulate messages to a variety of audiences.

  • Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships.

  • Ability to influence others and move toward a common vision or goal.

  • Flexible and adaptable.

  • Able to create structure in ambiguous situations.

  • Resilient and tenacious with a propensity to persevere.

  • Organized with a natural inclination for planning strategy and tactics.

  • Problem-solving and root cause identification skills.

  • Able to work effectively at all levels in an organization.

  • Acute business acumen and understanding of organizational issues and challenges.

  • Familiarity with project management approaches, tools, and phases of the project lifecycle.

  • Experience with large-scale organizational change efforts.

  • Prosci Certification and/or Certified Change Management Professional designation preferred.
