Description:

The Manager, Corporate Affairs & Communications, will help to define our internal communications strategy and support public relations efforts for the Group President, Enterprise Services and CEO, American Express National Bank. Enterprise Services (ES) includes global Technology, Enterprise Digital & Data Solutions, as well as the Global Services Group (GSG), the company’s frontline customer servicing and internal shared services organization.

The successful candidate is someone looking for a fast-paced and collaborative role leading communication for a multi-faceted business, enjoys storytelling, and is passionate about working with a group of dedicated colleagues to build meaningful communications programs.

This position reports to the Director, Corporate Affairs & Communications (CA&C), and will partner closely with leaders and colleagues across ES, CA&C, Colleague Experience Group, General Counsel’s Office, and the broader organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute an internal executive communications plan to share business priorities and spotlight key initiatives that are transforming the colleague and customer experience at American Express with key internal audiences – ES leaders, colleagues and more broadly across the company.

  • Write and review talking points and announcements as appropriate for each stakeholder group.

  • Manage third-party relationships and partner with teams and leaders across the ES organization, and our team, to coordinate, write, edit and promote a marquee video series to showcase key projects/initiatives that are transforming the customer and colleague experience at American Express.

  • Raise unique and newsworthy story ideas and opportunities to The Square and work across ES comms teams to promote ES successes across their comms channels.

  • Identify and evaluate ways to promote internal stories across Amex-owned external channels including the Newsroom and social media.

  • Partner with local CA&C teams to coordinate and promote activities for the Group President’s local market visits, including colleague town halls, engagement events, and post-event surveys.

  • Support the Director in executing external communications and PR activities as needed, which includes proactive media relations, external speaking engagements and drafting executive LinkedIn content to effectively convey the company’s technology, digital, and servicing transformation narrative and how Amex is a great place for all colleagues to grow and thrive.

  • Work closely with the Group President’s executive office to coordinate scheduling for communications related activities.

  • Contribute to broader team’s communications efforts as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5-7 years corporate communications / public relations or related agency experience.

  • Proven ability to create and implement effective employee communications plans serving broad or global audiences.

  • Strong writing and editing skills, including experience writing/editing features for the web/blog, organization announcements, and other types of business updates.

  • Excellent verbal and presentation skills.

  • Ability to conceptualize and successfully manage projects from end-to-end and keep various stakeholders apprised throughout the process.

  • Innovative and creative thinker who is comfortable in a fast-paced environment.

  • A creative eye: web/graphic design, video editing, and photography a plus.

  • Experience working in a crisis environment (crisis communications planning/execution).

  • Creative, self-motivated team player, with proven ability to effectively collaborate with colleagues across the company to support large-scale initiatives.

  • Ability to counsel senior leaders and strategically influence others as a communications consultant.

  • Excellent judgment.

  • Strong attention to detail and organization

Qualifications

Salary Range: $80,000.00 to $155,000.00 annually bonus benefits
