SALARY: $100,000 - $125,000

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

As the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Manager of the EverGrain Plant, you will oversee all aspects of environmental, health, and safety protocols at our food ingredient plant. The EHS Manager has a strong background in EHS management, particularly in the food manufacturing industry, and will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing comprehensive EHS programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies. This is an opportunity to work in a facility with a World Class safety program, allowing a dynamic leader to be creative in taking the program to even higher standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop, implement, and maintain environmental, health, and safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as company standards.

  • Conduct regular audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and risks in the workplace and develop strategies to mitigate them.

  • Provide leadership and guidance to plant personnel on EHS issues, including training programs, safety awareness campaigns, and emergency response procedures.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate EHS considerations into all aspects of plant operations, including production, maintenance, and facility design.

  • Manage and maintain all required permits, licenses, and regulatory documentation related to environmental compliance.

  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses to determine root causes and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

  • Monitor and analyze EHS performance metrics to identify trends and areas for improvement, and develop action plans to address deficiencies.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies, community stakeholders, and third-party auditors on EHS matters.

  • Stay current on industry best practices, emerging trends, and regulatory changes related to EHS management, and proactively recommend updates to policies and procedures as needed.

  • Foster a culture of safety and environmental stewardship throughout the organization by promoting open communication, participation in safety committees, and recognition of safety achievements.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Environment, or related field.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in environmental health and safety management, preferably in the food manufacturing industry.

  • Professional certification in EHS (e.g., Certified Safety Professional, Certified Industrial Hygienist) preferred.

  • Proficient with Environmental and or Safety regulations. Minimum of 5 years experience. Ability to interpret regulatory requirements (federal, state and provincial) and apply them to the workplace.

  • Thorough understanding of relevant environmental regulations (e.g., EPA, OSHA, FDA) and experience managing compliance programs.

  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage employees at all levels of the organization.

  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a demonstrated track record of implementing effective EHS programs.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
