Your role at Clorox:

The purpose of the Mechanic role is to troubleshoot and repair various process failures and equipment breakdowns, utilizing various electrical measuring instruments, hand and powers tools, and shop and welding equipment. Initiate and complete work orders for parts and/or machines. Repairs and maintains electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic components of production equipment and machines. Fabrication repair of defective machine parts using blue prints, manuals, or sample parts to determine dimensions, set up requirements, etc., of finished work piece. May assist engineers or maintenance planner in the design of machine components. Starting compensation 29.22/hour, plus differential.

In this role, you will:

  • Perform assigned work orders for the fabrication/repair or upgrade of production equipment.

  • Communicate with maintenance planner to determine work prioritization, often through using electronic mail.

  • Perform reactive machine maintenance as necessary.

  • Visually inspects and listens to equipment as a means of locating causes of malfunction.

  • Removes and replaces worn or defective parts using hand and/or power tools, following service manuals, diagrams, or blue prints.

  • Inspects and measures parts to detect wear, misalignment, or other problems.

  • May repair broken parts utilizing various shop and/or welding equipment and hand and/or power tools.

  • Replaces defective parts with new part or, repairs or reproduces part

  • Maintains and provide proper lubrication for machine tools and equipment.

  • Installs or connects rigging to perform various tasks as needed.

  • Installs machinery or equipment according to layout plans, blue prints, and other drawings.

  • Initiate and complete work orders for parts and machines using computerized maintenance management systems.

  • Perform frequent data entry into computer systems.

  • May be required to perform team coordination activities related to team safety, quality, production scheduling or other core business functions.

  • Accurately complete all required paperwork in a timely manner.

  • Complete all required training in a timely manner.

  • Complete other routine and unique tasks and projects as assigned.

What we look for:

Ability to perform occasional to frequent lifting; push/pull material weighing up to 50 lbs.

Ability to frequently lift/carry tool belt, weight ranges 7 lbs. to 15 lbs.

Ability to utilize good eye-hand coordination.

Ability to perform occasional bending and squatting.

Ability to tolerate kneeling and/or crawling in confined spaces.

Ability to tolerate exposure to non-weather-related hot temperatures.

Ability to frequently use coordination and dexterity in fingers while wearing protective gloves.

Ability to frequently climb and descend stairs.

Ability to reach to floor level, overhead and forward to work on machines.

Ability to maintain grip and manual dexterity in manipulation of hand tools for extended periods.

Must be at least 18 years old.

High school diploma or G.E.D.

Ability to understand instructions, work procedures, reason and make judgments, problem solve, plan, coordinate, and direct own work while coping with a variety of duties and expectations.

Ability to work a 12-hour rotating shift schedule, including nights, weekends and holidays, for up to 7 consecutive days.

Ability to work occasional mandatory overtime shifts.

Ability to communicate clearly and distinctly (oral and written) with peers and supervisors.

Ability to perform effectively under stressful conditions, prioritizing job duties while working with team members.

Ability to work occasionally at multiple-story elevations.

Ability to problem solve, making decisions quickly without direct supervision.

This position requires specific vocational preparation in high school, commercial or shop training, technical school, or apprenticeship training. The ability to complete some self-study courses in addition to on-the-job training is required.

Ability to communicate clearly and distinctly to co-workers.

Ability to perform a variety of duties involving frequent changes of tasks that may involve application of different aptitudes, techniques, procedures, physical demands, or degrees of attentiveness without loss of efficiency or composure.

Ability to interact in a consultative manner with co-workers, engineers, and electrical technicians.

Ability to work occasionally in high places.

Ability to adhere to and achieve specific results using precision measuring instruments, tools, and machines.

Ability to complete all required safety and training courses.

Good numerical aptitude is required to make accurate numerical measurements, calculate dimensions, calculate value and size of circuitry components, compute and list total quantity of materials needed from blueprints and specifications, to estimate cost of raw materials, and to compute quantity of sizes or parts needed for each segment of the project.

Excellent learning ability to understand and interpret instructions and detailed work procedures, reason and make judgments related to these procedures, plan, coordinate and direct own work while coping with a variety of duties and expectations from co-workers, electrical technicians, or engineers.

Verbal aptitude is required to ask pertinent questions of engineers, technicians or line workers, and to read and interpret technical manuals, charts, and parts manuals to plan work procedures and select replacement parts.

Ability to perform effectively under stressful conditions, prioritizing a variety of job duties while working independently or with co-workers under specific and detailed instructions.

Ability to problem solve, making decisions quickly without direct supervision.

Ability to maintain effective interpersonal communication with co-workers, electrical technicians, and engineers.

Ability to work with a number of specified deadlines and expectations related to the maintenance program.
