The Product Delivery team plans and prepares manufacturing production schedules and departmental workflows to establish sequence and lead time of production operation to meet shipping dates. Expedites operations that delay schedules and alters schedules to meet unforeseen conditions. Analyzes plant capacity and production requisition data to determine processes and resources; prepares production reports.

Whirlpool is seeking qualified candidates for a Global Strategic Sourcing Manager to join our Refrigeration category Product Management team, within the Global Strategic Sourcing (GSS) organization at our Monterrey, Mexico campus.

In this role, you will be the Procurement representative to join new product launch projects, responsible for delivering buy parts for the project on time, cost, and quality. You will be part of the core project team, understanding overall project deliverables, scope, status, and GSS-related deliverables.

You will coordinate GSS resources including buyers, tooling & equipment, target costing, New Product Readiness (NPR), and Supplier Quality team members to support the project from pre-sourcing to launch and throughout the project lifecycle. This leadership position will balance project lead and engagement cross-functionally with marketing, engineering, quality, and manufacturing to drive solutions and solve problems. This person will utilize effective Supplier Relationship Management techniques to enhance commercial and operational performance.

Your responsibilities will include

  • Create, measure, and execute team initiatives that optimize cost, quality, and product launch performance

  • Leading team members both directly and indirectly

  • Build partnerships across all brands and product categories. Engage Marketing, Product Development, Quality, Manufacturing, and Design to generate, and execute speed, solutions to improve Whirlpool Corp.'s performance

  • Facilitating and driving GSS deliverables per Whirlpool Product Development (WPD) requirements including but not limited to sourcing plan, sourcing selection, cost management and delivery, supplier Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), part-time availability, parts phase in and phase out (PIPO), throughout the entire project

  • Internal key procurement contact for all launch activities within the project

  • Facilitate communication among Procurement, Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, and other process partners

  • Developing Procurement IDP (Ideal Development Plan) to support project requirements

  • Drive other functions to deliver so GSS can conduct activities accordingly as well as maintain procurement component tracking information in the Production Parts Application Tracker (PPTA)

  • Drive target costing team to ensure cost maturity over the WPD cycle and deliver cost targets;

  • Drive delivery of PPAPs before pre-pilot

  • Drive supplier readiness to be able to ramp up to support launch and ramp down to minimize obsolescence

  • Identify, manage, and mitigate key risks to the project

  • Monitor and track launch projects via Project Tracker including KPIs

Minimum requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Procurement, Supply Chain or Engineering

  • 2+ years of experience in leading people or project management

Preferred skills and experiences

  • Master in Business, Procurement, Supply Chain or Engineering

  • PMP or similar certification

  • Experience in project management in product development-related functions (Engineering, Procurement, Supply Chain, Manufacturing)

  • Experience with business functions, value streams, and project finance

  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple key activities

  • Excellent communication skills, ability to lead/influence stakeholders, clear concise communication to all levels of the organization

  • Creative problem-solving skills

  • Remote and multicultural team management proficient with Whirlpool Product Development process

  • Background in New Product Introduction and Phase In/Phase Out Process

  • Experience with analytical computer-related skills, especially Google Suite (Drive, Sheet/ Excel)
