GE Healthcare EHS & Equipment Maintenance Manager in Aurora, Ohio

Job Description Summary

Responsible for day-to-day EHS leadership and facility maintenance. This includes the development, planning and implementation of Environmental Health and Safety programs & policies. This individual will also function in a team environment with all functions across the entire site to ensure EHS compliance. Also responsible for facilities and equipment maintenance including installing, maintaining factory equipment and building maintenance, and supervising employees who perform maintenance. Comprehensive in-depth understanding of facilities and security systems.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Leading a matrixed team to provide proactive leadership of all EHS and medical issues.

  • Lead continuous improvement of EHS priorities utilizing many different types of continuous improvement tools. Some examples of tools include HOP (Human and Organizational Performance), LEAN, Six Sigma, RCA (Root Cause Analysis), etc.

  • Ensure compliance of plant operations with all company and regulatory requirements relating to air, solid waste, chemical, water, health and safety.

  • Drive accountability with all functions and associates to continually reduce accidents and injuries. Implement and lead safety committees to increase levels of safety performance.

  • Lead Site to maintain OSHA VPP or equivalent certification.

  • Apply ergonomic principles to improve workstations and minimize injuries.

  • Develop and maintain excellent local and state agency relationships

  • Reduce worker's compensation and disability costs.

  • Ensure the manufacturing facility and manufacturing equipment is fully operational and maintained. Lead preventive and predictive maintenance programs including budget, procedures and maintenance team.

  • Ensure that security systems are fully operational and maintained.

  • Perform associated and other duties as required.

Qualifications

  • BS or BA in Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Engineering or related engineering field an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 6 years of experience in Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Engineering)

  • 3 years' experience leading environmental and safety compliance programs in a manufacturing environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead in a cross-functional team environment.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of EHS and government regulations.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of facilities, maintenance, and security.

Desired Qualification

  • Ability to prioritize and drive multiple programs.

  • Ability to manage contractors and facility improvement projects.

  • Experience in using data to determine focus areas of continuous improvement regarding EHS, Maintenance, and Facilities improvements.

  • Strong problem solving skills w/ the ability to coach team members to aid in enhancing the culture of problem solving.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Advanced computer skills.

  • Advanced degree (MS) and/or professional EHS certifications.

  • Experience managing projects and/or EHS compliance

  • Able to simultaneously manage multiple projects and other responsibilities, adjust to changing priorities and to make decisions with speed and accuracy based on available information

  • Team player with strong interpersonal skills, capable of working within a globally diverse, cross-functional, internal and external team across different time zones.

  • Excellent oral and written communication, presentation, and negotiation skills
