Overview:

In this role the Lead Engineer actively participate in New Part Selection & Approval, Obsolescence Health Reviews, Obsolescence Management, Engineering Change Orders, Substitute analysis on Redesign programs, PCN Alert Management and Environmental Compliance

Position: Lead Engineer (P2)

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Knowledge of various electronic components used across engineering industries Viz Active, Passive, Analog & Digital Integrated Circuits, Electro-Mechanical, Cables, Connectors Etc. Must be able to analyze circuits, functional blocks of the design to propose components as per the product & hardware requirements resulting in high quality & adherence to product regulatory compliance.

  • Knowledge of electronic Component key parameters, component lifecycle and obsolescence of electronic components and characteristics, finding form fit functional, upgrade/downgrade alternates, create the Obsolescence Health Review Report/ Lifecycle Analysis Report.

  • Should have good knowledge of environmental standards like RoHS, WEEE, REACH etc., and cooperate with vendors to ensure that parts and processes meet those standards. Expertise on Lead-Free terminology, understand MDDS (Material Declaration Data Sheet), FMD (Full Material Disclosure) & perform Tin whisker analysis as per Raytheon algorithm.

  • Should have worked in value addition projects resulting in cost optimization (BoM cost reduction, improvements, new component technologies adoption etc.)

  • Should have worked with cross functional team supporting development engineers in the NPI phase for new PCBAs as well as to maintain support for products in mass production

  • Should have worked with cross functional team selecting component vendors, managing the End of Life (EoL)process for PCBA components incl. Product Change / Discontinuation Notification (PCN/PDN) handling and disposition the same with a rationale

  • Able to authorize Engineering Change Request/ Change Order in PLM/Team Centre, and should have good understanding of MIL, AECQ, AQEC and JEDEC STDs, GEIA-STD-0005-2 and iNEMI Standards for electronic components.

  • Good understanding of PCB assembly & EMS processes.

  • Must have usage experience with various component database tools like Silicon expert and/or I.H.S.

  • Excellent written & oral communication skills.

  • Excellent report generation, modification & presentation skills using Microsoft applications.

  • Good Knowledge on Excel usage & Excel automation.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 3 to 6 years of Industry experience with experience in Obsolescence Management and Obsolescence tools.

  • Bachelor's degree in Electronics & Communication/ Electrical Electronics Engineering.
