Amazon Principal Supply Chain Manager, Third Party (3P) Last Mile Strategy, NA AMXL Long term Planning in Bellevue, Washington

The Amazon Extra Large (AMXL) team is a single-threaded organization that owns the End-to-end Customer experience for heavy and bulky products. AMXL consolidates supply chain, tech, FC operations, transportation, delivery stations, and last mile delivery. We also provide special handling services such as Room of Choice delivery, Haul-Away and Installation/Assembly for select items. AMXL currently has operations in NA & EU. We make complex problems fun working backwards from our customers! The transportation network encompasses all of the operations required to deliver worldwide shipments from our fulfillment channels to our customers.

We are seeking a seasoned Principal Supply Chain Manager to lead our Third Party Carrier Logistics Strategy and Capacity requirements within the overall last mile delivery operations. This role is pivotal in shaping the future of our last-mile delivery network, focus on enhancing contribution profit by strategically acquiring cost-effective third-party capacity such as UPS,USPS and LTL carriers, ensuring a favorable cost structure for Amazon.

The position is designed to ideate, implement, and execute cutting edge supply chain solutions that would create seamless flow of packages across Amazon Supply Chain. This is a high impact role with an opportunity to influence one of the most high visibility and high impact areas.

Key job responsibilities

  • Create long term Last Mile volume plans by different product profiles in line with third party (3P) contractual obligations during annual planning cycles (SPS, OP1 and OP2), collaborate and drive alignment with partner teams such as Short-term/Mid-term planning, Operations Engineering, Finance, other Amazon networks during the hand-off of the volume plans and initiatives.

  • Execute the third-party carrier logistics strategy, including contract negotiations and enforcement, to ensure cost-effectiveness, SLA adherence, and capacity requirements for AMXL product profiles.

  • Determine the optimal strategy for 3P vs 1P delivery by product and jurisdiction, influencing transportation partners and carrier mix allocations accordingly. Influencing third party (3P) carrier leadership and Amazon technology teams to identify and drive process improvements that improve service, iterate technology and enhance vendor engagement and growth.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams such as Transportation, Operations, and Finance to optimize supply chain efficiency and performance.

  • Stay abreast of industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging technologies to identify opportunities for innovation and improvement.

Basic Qualifications

  • 7+ years of program or project management experience

  • 7+ years of managing, analyzing and communicating results to senior leadership experience

  • 10+ years of supply chain experience

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Experience defining program requirements and using data and metrics to determine improvements

  • Experience defining and implementing financial recordkeeping requirements for complex transaction lifecycles

  • Experience with managing contracts and conducted negotiations with multiple 3P carriers, including financial analysis.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience delivering projects within scope, time, budget and quality

  • MBA or Master's degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Operations, or related field.

  • Experience creating, iterating, and improving end-to-end global component supply chains.

  • Managing a P&L independently

  • Constructed contracts and conducted negotiations with multiple 3P carriers, including financial analysis.

  • Ability to influence stakeholders without authority, driving adoption of new processes and initiatives.

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to problem solve independently and navigate complex business challenges.

  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with the ability to use data and metrics to develop business cases and support strategic decision-making.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $114,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $212,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
