State of Massachusetts Director of Safety and Security in Boston, Massachusetts

The Massachusetts Department of Mental Health (DMH) is seeking a dynamic professional to serve as the Director of Safety & Security for the Metro Boston Mental Health Campus. The selected candidate is critical to advising administration of security/safety vulnerabilities and procedures. The position is responsible for the development and oversight of a comprehensive safety and security management plan that provides and promotes a safe and secure environment for all DMH patients, employees, and visitors. As a key leader, the Director is responsible to ensuring we are promoting and sustaining a healthy, respectful, and inclusive work environment. This position provides direct oversight to the three (3) sites at the Metro Boston Area Campus Police and Metro Boston Transportation department. _Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive):_ * Oversee the security and safety operations of the Metro Boston Campus ensuring all operating procedures are reviewed, are appropriate for the facility and carried out in a manner consistent with DMH safety and security practices. * Conduct routine security and safety audits of the campus facility, suggesting and participating in planning meetings to maintain adequate safety and security standards. * Oversee and manage budgets including but not limited to, communications, surveillance equipment, locking devices, vehicle, and transportation needs. * Provide oversight of Chauffeur and vehicles assigned to the Metro Boston area; coordinate patient and staff transport requests, compliance with OVM standards and reporting, and fleet maintenance. * Maintain oversight of all required trainings; participate in and maintain oversight of all Written Security Plans, Environment of Care processes and all other meetings addressing safety and security initiatives. * Provide direct supervision to onsite supervisors; Ensure supervision and evaluations are conducted regularly and timely. * Provide oversight of parking needs for two campus buildings. * Participate in various Area community and hospital committees to include Environment of Care meetings at the three (3) sites and inpatient EOC; Participates in other Area committees as assigned _Preferred Qualifications:_ * Ability to supervise and guide staff in the concepts of security in the healthcare environment. * Demonstrated knowledge of the clinical practices of treating those with Mental Illnesses. * Capacity to interact with and understand others, i.e., from entry level workers to highly skilled workers, administrations, doctors, nurses, other hospital staff, visitors, volunteers, legal professionals, construction workers, and above all our patients. * Knowledge of the fundamental workings of State Government. * Familiarity with Joint Commission and their Accreditation Standards, as well as Division of Labor Standards. * Ability to perform a variety of job tasks simultaneously, and flexible to changing priorities and demands. * Passion for embracing diversity as a strategic advantage. * Proven written and oral communication skills with comfortability working with a high level of executives. * Proficient usage of Microsoft Office products including Word, Teams, PowerPoint, and Outlook. * Given the population served, bilingual or multilingual fluency. * *Schedule:Monday through Friday, 8am to 4pm, with Saturday and Sunday off. _DMH Mission Statement:_ The Department of Mental Health assures and provides access to services and supports to meet the mental health needs of individuals of all ages, enabling them to live, work and participate in their communities. Substitutions: I. A certificate in a relevant or related field may be substituted for one (1) year of the required (A) experience. II.
