USG Corporation Process Improvement Lead (Engineering) in Bridgeport, Alabama
The Process Improvement Lead is accountable to effectively lead the Lean Six Sigma continuous improvement processes within the plant, using standardized Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to systematically eliminate waste and reduce process variation. The Process Improvement Lead is expected to collaborate with all departments to identify potential projects and then use established leadership skills to build, develop, and lead teams to execute. This includes developing problem-solving behaviors within the plant employees to achieve plant objectives in Safety, Quality/Service, Efficiency and Cost.
_RESPONSIBILITIES:_ 1. Lead assigned plant black belt projects, organizing, and managing major long-term projects. 2. Direct LSS activities of full-time green belts, part-time green belts and lean leaders. 3. Coach plant Lean Leaders in LMS and facilitate LMS Training as needed. o Train and facilitate the creation and maintenance of daily LMS activities which include standardized work, visual work management and lean leader standard work and behaviors. o Establish the Gemba walk schedule with the plant management team. o Establish reflection meetings with plant management team. o Establish 1-on-1 coaching and development with Lean Leaders. 4. Direct and develop others to complete DMAIC projects, Kaizen events, and A3 & CI projects. 5. Drive improvements in all elements of Lean Management. 6. Develop goals, objectives and the metrics used to track results for the plant LSS and LMS programs. 7. Drive projects to completion, while maintaining targeted project cycle times. 8. Develop plant project pipeline creation through interface with management team. 9. Organize and lead Value Stream Mapping at a regular cadence. 10. Utilize LSS tools and data-driven methodologies to solve problems. 11. Work with all plant employees to build LSS/LMS into the culture and daily activities; encourage and offer learning and training opportunities, such as Yellow Belt/Lean 101 training at the plant. 12. Lead plant teams, resolve conflicts, influence, inspire, and motivate others without having direct authority. 13. Facilitate productive team meetings with agendas, action plans, and appropriate follow-up. 14. Network with other Black Belts and Master Black Belts to share lessons learned from projects and to promote replication opportunities. 15. Insures effective 2-way communication between key stakeholders within the plant and the Corporate Excellence team.
_QUALIFICATIONS:_ • Minimum of 5 years USG manufacturing experience. • Green Belt certification is required. • Successful completion of the USG Black Belt Lean Six Sigma Training Process following assignment.
• Demonstrated success in a manufacturing leadership position.
• Basic Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma tools.
• Strong mathematical skills and the ability to learn statistical analysis skills.
• Strong team management skills with ability to build cooperative relationships with employees at all levels.
• Ability to influence, negotiate and resolve conflicts to reach consensus around common goals.
• IT competency in Microsoft Office programs, Minitab and Qeystone. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. • Strong time management and project management skills.
