Gentex Corporation Maintenance Specialist (Electrician) in CARBONDALE, Pennsylvania

 

PURPOSE:

Primary purpose of the Maintenance Specialist is to perform required duties in the Facilities Maintenance Department with a specialization in one or more core competencies as listed below.

 

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

· Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, construction tasks as needed.

· Perform preventive maintenance as required to systems associated with a core competency.

· Troubleshoot machine and systems issues.

· Perform repairs on facility support equipment and systems.

· Perform new construction and equipment installations as needed.

· Use all safety and PPE equipment.

 

POSITION SUPERVISES:

· None

 

CONTACT WITH OTHERS:

· In-house facilities personnel.

· Department supervisors.

· Department managers.

· Hourly maintenance and production employees.

· State inspection agencies.

· Insurance representatives.

· Executive personnel as required.

Requirements

 

EDUCATION AND/OR PROFESSIONAL LICENSE(s):

Formal training in building maintenance and/or construction maintenance and/or 5 years experience in an industrial maintenance setting.

 

EXPERIENCE:

5 years experience in an industrial maintenance environment as listed below.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Hands on experience or a working knowledge of one the following maintenance disciplines:

· Electrical

· Plumbing and mechanical

· HVAC

· Carpentry

The Maintenance Specialist will possess the following skills and abilities pertinent to their core competency.

· Read and interpret CAD drawings, schematics, field drawings, layouts, sketches, etc.

· Troubleshooting in the major disciplines listed above.

· Knowledge of controls for motors, machines, lighting, pumps, sprinkler systems, fire system etc.

· Perform work in the electrical, HVAC, plumbing and carpentry disciplines.

· Communicate with department supervisors and managers in a professional manner.

· Prioritization skills.

 

PHYSICAL/MENTAL/COMMUNICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The employee may lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by the job may include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The individual must have a high level of comprehension, and a high level of general, verbal, written, and numerical intelligence.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Works majority of the day in a climate controlled environment, with the exception of or otherwise specified, performing work in the warehouse or manufacturing areas which are subject to changes in temperature and/or noise. Some work must occur outdoors and be exposed to the elements.

 

TRAVEL:

Generally, travel is not required

Gentex's Carbondale facility is located in Northeastern Pennsylvania in Lackawanna County. Carbondale, PA is about twenty miles north of Scranton, PA, 50 miles south of Binghamton, NY, and about 125 miles from New York City and Philadelphia.
