This role is responsible for monitoring and improving the accounts payable process. This position serves as the accounts payable process expert working with the service provider and USG business units to ensure invoices are paid effectively and efficiently.
Process Control and Improvement: Understand and drive improvement against key process performance metrics. Facilitate exception-based discussions when measurements are out of acceptable range. Analyze root causes of Accounts Payable exceptions across multiple locations and business units, identify and implement solutions. Identify and resolve critical issues; provide alternatives and negotiates successful outcomes. Provide project leadership and analytical support for process improvement initiatives. Develop effective project plans, manage resources, and work collaboratively with internal/external teams to meet internal customer expectations.
Communication and Teamwork: Maintain effective communication with service provider and internal USG teams across multiple levels (executive sponsors to team members). Foster a cooperative team environment. Maintain a courteous, friendly demeanor when handling inquiries both internally and externally.
4.Transaction Processing, Issue Resolution and Approvals: Process emergency payments, manual checks, returned checks, stop payments, time sensitive or special handling checks, and manual vouchers as needed. Document and monitor vendor certificates of insurance. Advise service provider regarding General Ledger coding as needed. Complete year-end activities as needed. Provide assistance with issue resolution to other team members on a regular basis. Escalate appropriate issues to the Accounts Payable Manager.
5.Implement new policies, processes and/or procedures, ensuring compliance to operative policies and regulations. Develop or expand knowledge of industry standards and best practices through internal and external partnerships.1. Bachelors degree in Finance or Accounting 2. Knowledge of basic accounting principles. Must have at least2-3 years accounts payable experience. 3. Understanding of USG internal controls and SOX compliance requirements or ability to learn required. Experience with Oracle and/or Woodstock software a plus. 4. Must have a minimum of 2 years experience leading/participating in continuous improvement projects. 5. The successful candidate demonstrates exceptional leadership, initiative, communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills.
