Lumber, Inc. currently employs over 200 employees.

 

The primary role of the Millwright 4 position is to maintain machine centers and equipment with a continued focus on safety, and productivity. The Company is looking for the highest level skilled Millwrights to join the team. The desirable applicant will have a mindset of constant improvement and willingness to go above and beyond.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Maintain mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, air & conveying systems
  • Perform all preventative maintenance, breakdown maintenance, and welding repair tasks
  • Stick welding, electrical, and hydraulic repair
  • Heavy equipment and machinery repair
  • Performs mandatory visual inspection of the equipment and facilities before use
  • Know, Understand, and Apply the Lock-out Tag-out procedures
  • Maintain lines of communication with other team members
  • Ensure tools, supplies, and equipment are in their "home locations" at all times
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area
  • Learning and applying lean business practices
  • Fill out a maintenance request and Idea Cards when needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Millwright Trainee:

  • Understand machine center risks and safety procedures
  • Learning the basic skillsets of Millwright trade
  • Knowledge of inventory locations, service calls, inventory management, and parts

Millwright 1:

  • Proper use of tools and equipment
  • Assist in replacing time chains, and bearings
  • Make hydraulic hoses

Millwright 2:

  • Identify points of failure and proper replacement procedures
  • Align sheaves and sprockets
  • Properly tension drive chains and drive belts
  • Understand hydraulic and pneumatic schematics

Millwright 3:

  • Whistle chase, perform repairs, and maintain machine center uptime
  • Align motors and couplers with a dial indicator
  • Perform bearing failure report
  • Splice conveyor belts
  • Operate lathe, drilling, milling, and key cutting machines

Millwright 4:

  • Assist in training and mentoring of new employees
  • Troubleshoot all areas throughout the plant
  • Set tolerances and load bearings
  • Set and charge accumulators on hydraulic systems
  • Read and understand blueprints

     

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Demonstrate problem solving and technical troubleshooting skills

Strong computer, communication, planning and organization skills

Provide necessary tools for repair

Ensure safe work practices & follow safety procedures

Dependable and reliable with a good attendance record

Ability to streamline processes and cut waste within area of responsibility

Lean techniques and experience preferred

Must be 18+ years old to work in an industrial sawmill environment

Must have HS Diploma/GED

Must be able to continuously stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, crawl, kneel, climb, and reach above shoulders safely. The weight required to be lifted each normal workday may occasionally exceed fifty (50) pounds at a time
