The Video Engineering organization is at the center of the Camera stack here at Apple. We develop image/video core technologies used in almost all of Apple products and services. From hardware design of our Image Signal Processor, to optimized execution of Machine Learning models on Apple Neural Engine, our efforts are at the forefront of providing the highest quality platforms that are used by billions! Our team is responsible for prototyping and incubating solutions for streaming, recording, playback and visualization of video and other sensor data. From writing high-quality apps and highly-reusable frameworks to architecting software systems for custom hardware, you will contribute to a broad range of tooling required to make an experiment into a product. Key Qualifications

  • Excellent Objective-C/Swift programming skills together with C/C++ experience

  • Experience with software debugging, unit testing capabilities, and optimization skills

  • Familiar with Design Patterns and their applications

  • Ability to plan for long-term evolution of APIs/Tools

  • Knowledge of digital video fundamentals like compression standards, video quality metrics, video frameworks (preferred AVFoundation, CoreMedia)

  • Knowledge of multi-threaded programming and synchronization

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Experience in building SwiftUI applications is a plus

  • Experience in Metal is highly desired

  • Experience in Swift Concurrency is a plus

Description

You will closely collaborate with cross-functional teams and will become responsible for improving and maintaining key parts of our internal software solutions. This involves integrating new technologies and features, as well as writing extremely sustainable and modular frameworks to be used by others at Apple. The position requires a candidate to be a quick learner who can take a project from broad scoping to execution from a perspective. The problems you will face will be dynamic, ranging from soliciting agreement for a software solution from cross-functional partners to a deeply technical blocker. While working on the regular software delivery, you will also be expected to bring knowledge back to the team and help improve the infrastructure for testing and reliability of our deliverables.

Education & Experience

BS and a minimum of 3 years relevant industry experience.

  • At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $138,900.00 and $256,500.00, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs.
