The Engineering General Foreman provides oversight and leadership of the maintenance crews.
Responsible for attainment of a high level of safety performance consistent with overall company accident prevention objectives.
Demonstrated ability to proactively develop and implement specific plans and strategies that maximize operating efficiencies and equipment availability.
Recognizes employees’ strengths and development needs, provides coaching and motivates employees on an individual basis and as a team. Ability to generate a training and development plan to foster skill development and retention.
Ability to develop successful relationships with internal and external customers. Must possess the needed technical skills with the ability to propel the plant forward by recognizing and implementing advancements in automation and technology.
Must be a strong advocate on positioning the administration of the RPM Model and other reliability activities to align with key metrics. Serves as the PMC, and oversees the timely follow through on work order schedules. Shares responsibility to develop and implement corrective action identified through reliability investigations in an efficient manner to ensure physical, electrical and mechanical asset health to the maximum extent possible.
Must have a basic understanding of electrical concepts such as , 3-phase motors, 480 volt and 4160 voltage .
Must understand NFPA 70E code.
Must have basic PLC and VFD drive knowledge.
Must understand Motor starters - size & change overloads & heaters
Must understand three phase motor wiring termination
Must be able to perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting & repairing on motors and motor breaks.
Must have a knowledge of advanced control system troubleshooting including PLC control using wiring schematics
Must have a basic knowledge of burner controls: perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting & repairing
Understands PLC & associated hardware - installation, troubleshooting & repair and PLC main components familiarization
Prior experience as a Maintenance Supervisor or equivalent experience is required.
Demonstrated organizational skills with strong communication ability. Supports all change initiatives with positive influence and enthusiasm.
Knowledgeable of safety compliance programs with a strong emphasis on safety and housekeeping. A proponent of innovative change in safety with a propensity for motivating employees to new levels of safety awareness and engagement.
Excellent problem solving skills with the ability to make quick, accurate decisions. Strategic thinker with a clear vision of what needs to be accomplished.
A desire to actively manage and develop others; provide guidance and recognition in conjunction with USG’s philosophy of talent management and retention. Capacity to relate well to employees at all levels and effectively build rapport.
Familiarity with manufacturing initiatives such as Lean Manufacturing, Lean Six Sigma, 5S, Visual Work Management and Operator Basic Care. Possesses the skills to ensure that implementation and utilization of the initiatives is effective in the Engineering Department.
