Title: Welding/Pipefitting Technician - Skilled Location: Dayton, OH Salary: $30.00 - $35.20 Hours: Monday - Thursday, 7:00AM - 5:30PM This position will focus on repair and fabrication of pipe, sheet and structural assemblies in manufacturing facility environments. Job Description Here are just a few things you can expect to do daily: Team member must be able to work in a team oriented and safety conscious environment. "Safety First" expectations include, but are not limited to, PJHA process, Observation process, and compliance with all company / site safety guidelines and procedures. Assigned tasks list to include, but not limited to, repairs and preventive maintenance on tanks, vessels, piping systems and structural systems. Rigging and lifting of equipment, tools, parts and assemblies in accordance with Rigging and Lifting policy This position requires the employee to work without supervision. Tasks also include layout and fabrication of new and replacement piping systems, as well as installation of valves and related piping equipment. Repairs and preventive maintenance to be performed in conformance with established standards. Must have working knowledge of the following topics: blueprint reading, ability to draw and interpret isometric diagrams, be able to be certified to B31.1 and B31.3 Pipe Welding Code in 6-G position in carbon and stainless steel. Lay out, position, and secures parts and assemblies according to specifications. Tack-welds and welds components and assemblies using GTAW, SMAW, MIG and gas welding processes. Use plasma machine, acetylene torch, band saw and cut off machines to size material. Use pipe threading and cutting machine to prep threaded pipe. Observes tests on welded surfaces, such as hydrostatic, x-ray, and dimension tolerance to evaluate weld quality and conformance to specifications. Inspects grooves, angles, or gap allowances, using micrometer, caliper, and precision measuring instruments. Removes rough spots from work piece, using portable grinder, hand file, or scraper. Deciphers engineering drawings and specifications to plan layout, assembly, and welding operations. Develops templates and other work aids to hold and align parts. Identifies required equipment and welding method, applying knowledge of metallurgy, geometry, and welding techniques. Works from elevated areas such as ladders, platforms, scaffolding, etc. utilizing fall protection equipment as necessary to complete tasks. Must be able to operate and have knowledge of simple and complex heavy industrial equipment such as forklifts, scissors lifts, boom lifts, and skid loaders. Work in confined spaces. Must have the flexibility to work all shifts including holidays and weekends as demanded by the job. Perform other tasks, including but not limited to mechanical repairs and maintenance, as assigned by Supervisor. Ensures compliance with all company / customer regulations, policies, and procedures.
