Wastewater Technician 3rd Shift

Indiana Packers Corporation is currently seeking a hands-on, experienced individual to operate and maintain our Wastewater Pre-Treatment Facility.This position is integral to the facility operations and is a continuous operation to include weekends.

Third shift hours are 10:00pm-6:30am

Alternating weekends schedule 5:00am-5:30pm for days or 5:00pm-5:30am for nights.

Responsibilities

  • Team members must be able to learn and understand the effects of wastewater operations to our manufacturing facility, environment and water supply while adheres to safety, food safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Perform all work in accordance with environmental, health and safety standards, as well as policies and procedures of the facility.
  • Learn and operate all wastewater processing equipment.
  • Must be able to pass training/certifications as required for qualifications.
  • Desire to work towards Class D Wastewater Certification within 5 years.
  • Must be able to communicate and follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Must be able to learn minor wastewater laboratory and testing procedures.
  • Must be able to control and clean up spills associated to the process.
  • Understand and support the recycling and sustainability efforts of the facility.
  • Document completed work as required by the supervisor.
  • Maintain stormwater compliance.
  • Compliance with all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Ability to work while wearing all necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and/or clothing.
  • Able to perform the physical requirements of the position such as squatting, bending, reaching, twisting/turning, gripping/grasping, climbing, and standing/walking 8 or more hours per day.
  • Use good eye/hand and eye/hand/foot coordination.
  • Occasionally lift up to 5 lbs. from floor to shoulder and carry 100 feet, 25 lbs. from floor to shoulder and carry 25 feet and occasionally lift up to 60 lbs. from floor to shoulder and carry 15 feet.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and color vision.
  • Physically able to turn valves, install pumps and hoses as necessary.
  • Ability to take water samples and perform basic laboratory functions as necessary.
  • Must be able to lift and move supplies for the wastewater treatment facility by hand or by forklift.
  • Use effective problem-solving skills and perform calculations related to weight measurements, wastewater discharge volume, and effluent concentrations.
  • Ability to comprehend simple instructions, read and write simple correspondence and memos.
  • Effectively present information in one-on-one small group situations to customers, clients, and other team members of the organization.

Environmental/Atmospheric Conditions

  • Constantly work in damp, wet, humid, and slippery environments.
  • Constantly work in extreme heat/cold (primarily outdoors).
  • Frequently work near moving machinery with fumes or airborne debris.
  • Frequently work with toxic or caustic chemicals.
  • Constantly work in high noise levels requiring hearing protect on.
  • Occasionally work in high places.
  • Machines/Tools/Equipment/Software
  • Valves, pumps, and hoses.

This Wastewater Technician position is in Delphi Indiana (6755 W 100 N Delphi, IN 46923), a short drive from Lafayette Indiana and Purdue University.
