Job Description Summary

Perform urgent and routine maintenance, installation, and repair of medical equipment within the facility and outlying clinics owned and operated by Southeast Health, to insure that our patients receive quality and safe care by following policy and procedure of the Engineering Department, Southeast Health, state and local codes. Complete annual required blitz. Perform on-call task when assigned. Perform preventative maintenance (PM) required on Biomedical equipment assigned to Clinical Engineering. Complete work requestor(s) generated manually and/or by computer in a timely manner to assure patient satisfaction. Teach encourage and promote positive behaviors in co-workers

Job Description

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School graduate or equivalent.

  • A background in electronics related field.

  • Associate Degree in Biomedical Equipment Technology and/or military training or equivalent training.

  • General computer knowledge.

  • Knowledge of state and local safety codes.

  • Work on-call, weekends, night or day.

  • Valid drivers’ license.

  • Encourage and promote positive behaviors in co-workers

LANGUAGE/ COMMUNICATION SKILLS:

  • Ability to utilize the Internet, extranet and email.

  • Ability to utilize radio and paging system.

SKILLS:

  • Perform adjustments and calibrations to biomedical equipment in a timely manner or patient, visitors and hospital personnel.

  • Perform initial inspection of all diagnostic, therapeutic and clinical equipment purchased, leased rented or loaned to Southeast Health following manufacturer standards, referencing the manufacturer’s manual when necessary.

  • Maintain accurate preventive maintenance records on each piece of equipment for which the Clinical Engineering is responsible. The records kept manually and/or by the Equipment Management Program to include the prompted information, purchase date, documentation of preventive maintenance and/or repairs in a manner that demonstrates good understanding the importance of the record as a legal document, referencing manufactures manual when necessary.

  • Troubleshoot, calibrate and/or repair TV’s, pneumatic tube system, nurse-call, to insure minimal inconvenience to patients, visitors and hospital personnel.

  • Maintain, repair and/or replaces Surgical or Biomedical electrical switches, fuses, receptacles, and lights in order to maintain continuity of service and achieve high productivity.

  • Assist with installation, maintenance and repair facility communication equipment for patients, visitors, and hospital personnel following manufactures specifications and standards, hospital policies and procedures, state and local safety codes.

  • Coordinate to assure that adequate inventory of parts for routine maintenance and emergency repairs of Biomedical equipment, using manufacturer’s service manual as a reference and assist the Director of Clinical Engineering in reducing operating cost.

  • Complete work requestor(s) generated manually and/or by computer to be completed in a timely manner to assure patient satisfaction.

  • Rotate on-call with Biomedical Technicians.
