Description

General Summary

Provides preventive maintenance services and repairs to various Cooled Water Towers and chillers which include Scroll, Air Cooled, Reciprocating and Centrifugal units ranging from 30 to 700 ton units.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Adheres to industry/government specific guidelines, particularly as they relate to safety, health and environmental practices.

  • Applies principles and practices of electrical and electronics theory.

  • Performs diagnostics and repair of leaks in refrigerant systems.

  • Adapts procedures, techniques, tools, materials and/or equipment to meet special needs.

  • Obtains approval for all repairs exceeding defined costs.

  • Refers complex issues to higher supervision.

  • Additional duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Experience and Skill Requirements

  • Must have two years experience in HVAC Refrigeration systems maintenance and servicing operations or have Certified Trade school completion.

  • Must have EPA certification per CFR part 82f (Universal preferred) for servicing and recovery of refrigerants.

  • Provides common hand tools

  • Must be skilled in the use of diagnostic equipment and a variety of tools specific to the trade.

  • Understanding of metering devices and theory in chiller systems required.

  • Ability to interpret and follow technical manuals, blueprints, mechanical drawings, and schematics.

  • Working knowledge in maintenance and repair of Cooled Water Towers used with chiller systems

Work Environment

  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs., squat, bend, stoop and kneel for short periods, climb a ladder, stand for long periods of time, constant arm extensions.

  • Occasional exposure to elements such as heat, cold, noise, dust, dirt, chemicals, etc., but none to the point of being disagreeable. May involve minor safety hazards where likely result would be cuts, bruises, etc.
