USG Corporation Project Engineer Co-op (Quarry) - Fort Dodge in Fort Dodge, Iowa

The project engineer co-op position is a challenging position that encourages an engineering student to complete hands-on learning in a manufacturing environment. Reporting directly to the Quarry Manager, this individual will be responsible for the following:

  • Identify problems and provide assistance in methods and equipment improvement.

  • Develop and follow through on capital projects with technical writing and other communication skills.

  • Understand, follow and support the USG safety program.

  • Assist in maintenance of all plant equipment and facilities.

  • Coordinate and lead special and day-to-day projects as needed.

  • Communicate well and work together with a diverse team to accomplish common goals.

    Qualifications to fill this project engineer summer co-op position include:

  • Working towards Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (mining focus preferred).

  • Strong leadership, verbal communication, written communication (technical and professional), decision making and employee relations skills within a diverse workforce environment.

  • Must have demonstrated abilities to operate within a planned budget and manage costs within established goals.

  • Must have a high level of organizational skills with the ability to effectively manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks.

  • Knowledgeable with safety compliance programs with a strong emphasis on safety, quality and housekeeping.

  • Practice a high level of dignity and respect towards others.
