Job Summary Organize the activity of the plants in order to optimize the production of asphalt mixes and/or the manufacture of bitumen binders and/or emulsion while ensuring respect for the environment, quality and safety rules. Main Responsibilities Supports Operations Manager in leading asphalt plant operations. Identify and support capital improvement projects. Coordinate and manage subcontractors, field operations, budgets, and scheduling for the site in alignment with superintendent. Maintain recordkeeping for site permits with local, state and other governing agencies. Maintain and supervise incoming and outgoing inventories including fuels and liquid asphalt. Maintain a strong focus on reducing waste. Ensure that scheduled and unscheduled maintenance is completed in a safe and cost-effective manner including the ordering of parts and services. Establish and maintain health, safety, and environmental records. Lead all aspects of personnel to ensure all materials and customers are handled in a professional manner. Work together with quality control personnel. Responsible for environmental compliance including air and water quality issues. Other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Operations Manager or Regional Manager. Education Bachelors of Engineering required or equivalent experience. Skills Ability to work flexible hours. 8-10 years high production asphalt manufacturing experience. Strong mechanical proficiency required. 5+ years proven track record of leading others. Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills required. Complete dedication to safety policies and practices. Physical Requirements Variable hours and shifts. Work in varying weather conditions. Ability to stand, walk, sit, reach, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl. Out of town travel possible w/ trainings/seminars. Exposed to mechanical equipment and moving mechanical parts, high places, fumes or airborne particles, toxic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. Noise level is moderate.
