Iteris is seeking threeTMC Operations Mangersto work out of three NYSDOT offices located in Hornell, Rochester, and Syracuse New York. These roles will be responsible for all operational aspects of the TMC and shall oversee staff located at the TMC on a 24/7/365 basis. TMC Operations Manager will interface with various NYSDOT internal and external partners including maintenance, construction, traffic, emergency service providers, transit, and other local agencies.

What you will be doing:

  • Organizational management and direct supervision of TMC Operations Center contract staff, facilitating a cohesive and balanced operation

  • Ensure that all mission critical logistics, manning, and equipment is provided and maintained

  • Review applicant resumes, conduct interviews, and recommend for hire/advancement

  • Develop and manage an effective operations shift schedule, including emergency operations scenarios

  • Staff coaching and counseling, with an emphasis on growth and development

  • Perform personnel performance reviews

  • Develop, maintain, and implement training and certification for operations staff to ensure operational proficiency

  • Audit staff and operations performance; incorporate findings in improvement initiatives

  • Liaise with corporate resources (e.g., for recruitment, training, payroll processing, personnel performance reviews, and conflict resolution)

  • Provide invoice support/validation through maintaining effective staffing and expense logs

  • Guide essential operation decisions, develop special event response plans, participate in post-incident analysis exercises, and ensure that staff resources are being tasked in an impactful manner

  • Participate in meetings, seminars, conferences, and committees as appropriate and assigned by the client

  • Write and maintain technical documents, including but not limited to Standard Operations Procedures and training material

  • Serve as a subject matter expert for the client and corporation on TMC Operations Center services

  • Maintain awareness of the operation’s equipment status, ensuring coordination of equipment / system failures with maintenance and information technology staff to ensure maximum system availability

  • Provide back up to the client management team (e.g., during vacancies such as vacation)

  • Prepare reports as requested on operational performance

  • Share (or assume) responsibilities with (for) the client for public relations activities such as: public outreach efforts, facility tours, presentations, and Traffic Incident Management (TIM) team meetings

    What you need to be successful in this role:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and a minimum of 3 years of qualifying experience OR

  • Minimum of 7 years full-time employment meeting qualifying experience AND

  • Must possess a valid driver's license

  • Qualifying experience include above experience with TMC, Traffic, Dispatch operations with either military, transportation, fire, police, EMS or 911 AND

  • At least 7 years experience as a manager of projects with a net worth of at least $500k annually AND

  • Must have extensive experience managing operations AND extensive experience in supervising a minimum of 15 employees

  • Skilled in report writing, technical writing, team presentations, spreadsheet analysis, and interoffice communication

  • Skilled in standard software applications such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Access, Outlook)

  • Ability and willingness to work alternate work schedules, be on-call 24 hours/day, and function as essential personnel

  • General knowledge of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) and traffic management standards

  • Skilled in the use of Advanced Traffic Management Systems (ATMS) applications

  • Ability to be calm and effective under pressure and in a variety of work conditions

  • Ability to coordinate real time activities and initiate immediate priorities, for self and support staff

  • Geographic familiarity with regional roadway network

  • Performance Management and associated data analytics, systems and data evaluation

    Iteris anticipates paying between $78,000.00 and $87,000.00 for this role. However, actual pay offered may vary depending on job related knowledge, skills, and experience.
