Job Description Summary

The Utilities & Facilities/GMP Maintenance Manager is responsible for the corrective and preventative maintenance program at the Horsham facilities including: supervision of internal employees and contractors, administration of computerized maintenance management system and building management systems, and execution of corrective and preventative maintenance for plant utilities and GMP manufacturing equipment. In addition, this position is a hands-on position and is responsible for troubleshooting equipment issues and coordinating maintenance with support from contract services. This candidate is responsible for on- call scheduling for building and GMP equipment alarms. This position supports the Horsham manufacturing facility, labs, and warehouse.

All incumbents are responsible for following applicable Division & Company policies and procedures.

Job Description

Responsibilities:

Plant Maintenance & Calibration

  • Preventative and corrective maintenance of critical utilities and systems; GMP and Non GMP to include: Air handling equipment and systems; Air conditioning and refrigeration equipment and systems; Boilers (steam and hot water), plant steam, and plant hot water; Chillers and chilled water systems; Air compressors, air dryers, and compressed air systems; Nitrogen system; Domestic hot and cold water system; Natural gas systems; Purified Water and WFI generation and distribution systems; Clean steam generator and clean steam systems; Plant sewer and waste neutralization systems.

  • Preventative and corrective maintenance of manufacturing equipment including fermentation equipment, process vessels, purification equipment, autoclaves, component washers, and other ancillary manufacturing equipment.

  • Calibration of plant instrumentation and equipment

  • Maintains building automation / management systems.

  • Develops and maintains Standard Operating Procedures for calibration and maintenance of GMP plant systems. Frequently the owner of the SOPs related to these systems.

  • Owner of the Blue Mountain Calibration and Maintenance System (CAMS).

Maintenance & Calibration Management

  • Manages the computerized maintenance management system and work order system.

  • Supervises activities of contract maintenance service providers.

  • Supervises internal personnel in the execution of plant maintenance and calibration activities.

  • Scheduling of plant maintenance & calibration activities and coordination of maintenance activities with area management.

  • Major contributor in planning of shutdowns and major equipment installations.

Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure maintenance and calibration operations are established and maintained in compliance with all applicable regulations, guidelines and safety policies and procedures.

  • Prepare and participate, as required, as a subject matter expert for regulatory audits. Ensure areas of responsibility are inspection ready at all times.

  • Complete deviation investigations, change controls, and CAPA’s for assigned areas of responsibility.

Training and Personnel Development

  • Trains, coaches, and mentors direct reports including, but not limited to, calibration and maintenance technicians and specialists.

  • Leads and participates in cross-training initiatives, as appropriate.

  • Manage training program within the team, ensuring that direct reports are current on training requirements, including site company policies and procedures.

Engineering & Facilities Department Support

  • Responsible for scheduling and overseeing the on-call program for building / GMP equipment alarms 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. The Individual will be the point of contact for maintenance/calibration technicians that are on call and will be required to respond to off-hours alarm as needed. Conduct daily monitoring as required for critical utilities and process systems.

  • Supports the Engineering & Facilities Department with other duties as required.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience

  • 2-year degree, technical school degree or equivalent experience. High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • 12+ years of previous relevant experience is required, with at least 6 years of prior supervisory experience.

  • Strong leadership skills experience is required.

  • Must have HVAC experience.

  • Must have electrical experience.

  • Previous GMP maintenance coordination experience required.

  • Experience working in a GMP environment and completion of GMP documentation.

Knowledge

  • Proficient Knowledge of GMP and Calibration.

  • Proficient Knowledge of Maintenance Techniques.

  • Knowledge of Electrical Code Requirements.

  • OSHA safe work practices

  • Building Management System Experience (Siemens, Johnson Controls) a plus.

Skills & Abilities

  • Good troubleshooting skills- electrical / mechanical.

  • GMP documentation skills demonstrated.

  • Must be able to coordinate multiple contract services simultaneously.

  • Good communication and organizational skills.

  • Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.

  • Exposure to elements (i.e. hot weather, cold weather, precipitation) for brief periods.

  • Operate computer-controlled equipment, which requires a combination of standing, sitting, and walking to and from the operator interface terminal.

  • Required to work around live electrical circuits and mechanical devices in the execution of their duties.
