Job Description:

General Description

· Repair, adjust and maintain all types of machinery and mechanical equipment, including delicate mechanical instruments.

· Make sophisticated, original setups on a variety of machine tools to machine first run production parts.

· May diagnose and correct tooling issues.

General Requirements

· Diagnose problems, dismantle, inspect, clean, lubricate, repair, replace worn or damaged parts, reassemble and adjust all types of machine tools, miscellaneous machinery, mechanical equipment, etc.

· Develop, build, fabricate, fit or alter parts and rebuild a variety of special machines, machine attachments, fixtures, miscellaneous machinery, mechanical equipment, etc.

· Position, install, align, set and adjust a variety of locating fixtures, dies, jigs, tool holders, guides, cutting tools, stops, feeds, speeds, etc.

· Improvises set-up changes, recommends process changes, etc., until parts are produced which meet production dimensional and quality requirements.

· Uses precision measuring instruments, such as calipers, micrometers, squares, gage blocks, indicators, etc.

· Diagnose, service and adjust all types of machine tools and automation (including robots) required to manufacture transmission components, primarily PLC/CNC based.

· Must be able to troubleshoot pneumatic and hydraulic systems, making the proper corresponding repairs.

· Works within the computerized maintenance management system (Maximo) completing work orders, documenting work performed and requisitioning parts.

· Works from blueprints, sketches, verbal and written instructions.

· Performs any duties incidental to the repair and maintenance of mechanical equipment.

· Basic hand and power tools are to be supplied by candidate.

· Must be able to work independently or in team environment.

· May be required to train fellow tradespeople.

Required Qualifications

· Must have completed a formal apprenticeship OR have 8 years of equivalent experience to qualify as a Journeyman.

· Must have a thorough knowledge of machine construction, functions and methods of repair and adjustment.

· Must have knowledge of shop math and be able to read, interpret and work from blueprints.

Preferred Qualifications

· Experience maintaining and repairing CNC machine tools.

· Veterans with MOS experience maintaining and repairing sophisticated or precision mechanical systems are strongly encouraged to apply.

Working Conditions and Hazards

· May be required to work in cramped positions or from ladders, in oils and greases, etc.

· Must be able to pass the company truck driver physical examination.

· Should be physically capable of performing heavy lifting, climbing, etc.
