Maintenance Technician - Jacksonville, FL

Role Summary:

Our Maintenance Technicians are responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing equipment in a manufacturing environment. This role performs routine and extensive preventative maintenance and repair procedures on electrical and mechanical systems involving production equipment and plant systems. Works Safely in the maintenance of machinery and equipment to ensure OEM quality and operational excellence.

How you will impact WestRock in this role:

  • Contributes to a culture of safety through active participation and regular training never hesitating in bringing attention to any safety concerns.

  • Performs various maintenance and repair tasks on Equipment that includes Flexo Printing Press, Editors, Print Plate Mounters, Editor, Baler, Powered Industrial Trucks (PIT), as wells as facilities maintenance and repair tasks

  • Ensures the continual operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on motors, pneumatic tools, floor conveyor systems, and production machinery; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions.

  • Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments

  • Removes defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, lifts, and hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts.

  • Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.

  • Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges.

  • Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level, anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies.

  • Conserves maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.

  • Completes work assignments and provides maintenance information by using CMMS

  • Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing technical publications; establishing personal networks.

  • Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.

  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.

What you need to succeed:

  • 5 years' experience in an Industrial Maintenance Environment

  • Electrical and Mechanical aptitude with troubleshooting experience.

  • An operational knowledge of automated industrial machinery motors, pneumatic tools, floor conveyor systems, and production machinery preferred.

  • Basic Safety, General Equipment Maintenance, Technical Understanding, Initiative and Zeal, Basic Power Tool use, Attention to detail, Flexibility, and a Great Work Ethic

  • Other Qualifications: The duties of this role require: Frequently ascending/descending stairs, reaching by extending fingers on two hands, reaching by extending two arms, using fingers to grasp with two hands, occasionally lifting 75 lbs. of weight, climb ladders, and work atop elevated surfaces for 10-30 minutes at a time.

  • Work Environment: Work is indoors, in an environment that is climate controlled, occasionally works indoors in an environment that is not climate controlled and has higher temperatures, occasionally stand or walk for 1-2 hours at a time, noisy work environment requiring strict adherence to Plant PPE standards, safety rules and regulations, ability to work any shift.

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED; some college or training in a technical field is always welcome
