Performs maintenance and service repairs with minimal supervision on heating, ventilating, and air conditioning and gas fired processing systems. Installs new units or replacement parts for existing units according to specifications and established safety guidelines. Possesses the understanding and troubleshooting ability of HVAC mechanical and control systems. Ability to troubleshoot electrical circuits with a DVM and work with basic hand tools and computers. Is trained and certified in the handling, storage, and use of controlled refrigerants. Will maintain service records of all HVAC systems and refrigerant usage. Is capable of performing all duties and responsibilities of aMaintenance Technician.

  1. Performs HVAC maintenance functions with minimal direct supervision. Able to establish and maintain records of refrigerant usage.

  2. Troubleshoot, repairs, and services electrical and mechanical failures on HVAC equipment and gas fired processing equipment various types of production machinery that requires refrigeration as required. Example: water chillers on urethane machines

  3. Establish and complete filter change out schedules and complete Preventative Maintenance tasks on RTU’s and other equipment requiring refrigeration.

  4. Conducts diagnostic and trouble-shooting inspections of HVAC equipment and gas fired production equipment, making adjustments to air flows, gas valves, pressure switches, dampers as necessary.

  5. Routine inspections of fire sprinklers and suppression systems.

  6. Assist and supervise contractors were applicable on large projects requiring contractor assistance. Example: RTU change out.

  7. Recommends improved methods or alternatives to HVAC systems with replacement schedule for HVAC equipment.

  8. Able to safely operate powered hand tools, oxyacetylene torch, drill press, metal break, volt-ohm meters, refrigerant gauges, pipe threading equipment and other tools of the trade. Operates forklift as required.

  9. Completes paperwork as required including, CMMS work orders, inspection reports, logs, Chase work orders and etc.

  10. Able to install ductworks to various pieces of equipment requiring intake fans, exhaust fans and etc.

  11. Able to service and repair Oxidizing equipment and make adjustments to burners on gas fired equipment.

  12. May be called upon to work late evenings, early mornings, or other unscheduled hours to perform necessary emergency repairs.

  13. Keeps work area neat, clean, organized, and under control.

  14. Is responsible for quality and safety of own work and compliance of all company procedures and policies.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE:

Required: AAS in HVAC Technology or similar degree with two or more years of HVAC experience.

EPA 608 Certification in handling, storage and refrigerant usage.

Any deviations from the above requirements (e.g. substituting more work experience for required education) will be evaluated and approved by the Division Manufacturing Engineering Manager.

Preferred: HVAC Technology degree with 4 years experience in a commercial work environment

SPECIAL EQUIPMENT OR OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Must provide own hand tools. This position requires the individual to handle and transport machine parts or equipment weighing up to approximately seventy-five pounds.
