Cybersecurity Engineer – Data & Access

Location: Remote

Reports to: Security Engineering Manager

Job Overview:

As a Cyber Security Engineer, you will be responsible for assisting in the day-to-day operations of the company's security infrastructure. You will be working alongside team members to play a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing the security posture of our critical infrastructure to protect sensitive customer data, secure company assets, and ensure compliance with industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and maintain security measures for structured and unstructured data; including encryption, access controls, authentication, DLP, CASB, etc.

  • Classify data based on its sensitivity and ensure the appropriate levels of protection are applied.

  • Configure and monitor audit trails to track data access and changes.

  • Implement, manage, and consult with IT partners on encryption technologies to secure data at rest and in transit.

  • Ensure compliance with relevant data security regulations, such as; PCI, NIST, and industry standards.

  • Conduct regular security assessments and audits to identify and remediate security issues.

  • Interpret security and technical requirements from IT and other business teams to support their initiatives.

  • Develop, plan, and document requirements to create detection and prevention strategies.

  • Assist with improving data and access management solutions to protect against evolving threats.

  • Identify, track, and report on key metrics.

  • Stay up-to-date with the latest security trends, threats, and technologies.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in cybersecurity

  • 3+ years of experience focused in a data security role

  • Advanced knowledge of data and database security principles, encryption techniques, access controls and DLP solutions

  • Familiar with cloud security best practices (e.g. - AWS, Azure, O365, Google)

  • Self-starter who is willing to take ownership and see projects through to completion

  • Knowledge of security frameworks such as NIST, CIS, and ISO

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

Preferred:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CIAM, etc.) are highly desirable.

Minimum of 5 years of experience in cybersecurity, with a proven track record of handling data security deploymentsprojects, performing security assessments, and assisting with incident response.
