About the Opportunity

Nuclear Power Programmes are delivering client critical works to some of our major UK and European Projects. Our embedded teams are delivering support to Hinkley Point C (New build power station in the South West), Sizewell C (located in the South East), helping develop technologies in SMR (Small modular Reactor) capability and working towards building Poland's first Nuclear Power station.

Working in both client facing and internal roles we are delivering major programme and project management capabilities throughout the project lifecycle. We are driving to deliver safe, high quality and to time solutions by thinking innovatively and working collaboratively.

Following on from the success of Hinkley Point C (HPC), the SZC Project is a nuclear new build project in Suffolk, which has obtained planning approval and Government financing support. The project has started construction and is now seeking private investment. When completed, it will provide dependable electricity to 6 million homes for 60 years, which along with renewables, will support Britain to achieve Net Zero by 2050.

Jacobs are seeking a Configuration Engineer to support execution of the Configuration Management Plan ensuring a balanced application of CM tailored to the programme-specific scope. Key responsibilities will be:

• Define or maintain and implement CM arrangements to ensure adequate and proportionate configuration control is established and maintained

• Engage with programme stakeholders ensuring configuration baselines are established as an outcome of scheduled events (e.g. Gateway reviews)

• Administer the change control procedure ensuring configuration changes are registered and recorded, they are confirmed as meeting CM quality criteria, applicable governance meetings are arranged, decisions recorded, and support Engineering Leads to expedite changes through the process to closure

• Produce Configuration Status Reports to support management decision making by providing data-backed reports summarising current and prior configurations, configuration changes, and the outcome of configuration review and audit activities

• Provide CM training so programme participants understand their responsibilities within CM procedures, the information and records required, and the inter-relationships and dependencies between CM, design management, document control and information management activities

• Collaborate within Engineering Integration and with other functions to develop and adopt a complementary CM approach across permanent and non-permanent works, inclusive of replicated scope and site-specific scope

• Participate in Engineering Data Management / Information Management activities to specify CM requirements for CM data and information management systems, and verify they are adequately delivered

Here’s what you’ll need :

• Engineering degree or equivalent industry experience

• Awareness of Configuration Management Standards including ISO 10007, EIA 649 and supporting guidance (e.g. GEIA-HB-649)

• Able to define CM related procedures aligned with project needs

• Capable of coordinating cross cutting technical topics

• Ability to read, digest and implement engineering procedures

• Experience in large multi-disciplinary engineering projects
