USG Corporation Reliability Planner/Green Belt - Ceilings Plus in Los Angeles, California

_RPM Planner_

The Reliability Planner/LSS Green Belt reports directly to the Process Improvement Manager and assumes the primary function to work in conjunction with the Reliability General Foreman to expedite work orders and requests, schedule both routine and non-routine related projects, and prepare required equipment and parts to complete work in the most efficient manner possible.

_LSS Green Belt_

Effectively leads Lean Six Sigma continuous improvement projects within the Plant. Works with Plant Management to select and charter projects and then uses established leadership skills to build, develop, and lead teams to execute a solution for the project. Incumbent uses standardized Lean Six Sigma methodologies to systematically eliminate waste and reduce process variation. This includes identifying integration issues, removing barriers to success and tracking project status to obtain results as quickly as possible.

DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

_Reliability Planner_

  • Initially, the primary responsibility of the Reliability Planner will be to implement a CMMS. This includes development of an equipment hierarchy and basic Preventative Maintenance and Operator Basic Care job plans with appropriate cadences.
  • Build and maintain equipment hierarchy and spare parts list in the CMMS program.
  • Maintain, create with assistance, and update as required all regular preventative maintenance work orders for the plant, each to include all appropriate safety information such as lockout/tagout analyses and confined space evaluations and forms.
  • Participate in the work order approval process in all areas of the plant, adhering to established procedures.
  • Organize and manage the backlog ofworkorders tofacilitatetimelyandorderlycompletionof maintenance work.
  • Work with the Reliability General Foreman, Production General Foreman and Production Scheduler to schedule all maintenance work for the plant based on establishedprioritiesandmanpoweravailability.
  • Verify andcollectall parts needed tocompletescheduled work orders.
  • Prepare job planning packages, where appropriate, to include all necessary safety notes andprocedures,permits, drawings orprints,billsof materials,manuals,parts books,pictures,diagrams,and anyotherinformationnecessary tocompletework orders in themostefficient andtimelymanner.
  • Ensure theintegrityof all data collected in the CMMS through theestablishmentof strict usage procedures andstandardization,andverifyadherence throughregularaudits and “housekeeping” of database.
  • Initiate requisitions and purchase orders as needed for planned jobs.

_LSS Green Belt_

  • Effectively leads Lean Six Sigma Green Belt projects.
  • Works with Management to develop and manage a pipeline of viable 5S and Green Belt projects.
  • Creates project Charters and participates in team member selection.
  • Uses standardized Lean Six Sigma methodologies to systematically eliminate waste and reduce process variation.
  • Utilizes MDIS, RKB, and PCT for data collection and Minitab for data analysis.
  • Manages lean and lean six sigma activities.
  • Generates annual savings of $90,000 each year through any combination of DMAIC projects, replication projects, and KAIZEN projects.
  • Maintains project cycle time for full DMAIC projects of under 6 months.
  • Updates project files regularly through Minitab Companion, including monthly financial savings.
  • Participate in weekly coaching calls with Lean/LSS coach.

_Reliability Planner_

  • Must know and demonstrate adherence to the safety rules and procedures in all assigned areas of the plant.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Must have a thorough understanding of the plant’s computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) and remain current on all new upgrades and changes.
  • Must possess a thorough knowledge of plant equipment, operations, and maintenance activities.
  • Must be capable of working with vendors and, on a limited basis, contractors, in the performance of assigned duties.
  • Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills with all levels of personnel in the plant.
  • Must demonstrate excellent organization and discipline in performing administrative duties.
  • Must be familiar with, support, and enact all plant policies, procedures, and department objectives.
  • Must meet all requirements as outlined in the Essential Physical Requirements for the position and, as with all positions in the plant, regular and predictable attendance is required.

_LSS Green Belt_

  • Position requires 3 full weeks of travel during a 3-month period for the initial Lean Six Sigma GreenBelt certification, followed by 10% yearly travel to Corporate Office and other plants.
  • Must be able to pass Lean Six Sigma Green Belt and Team Accelerator training.
  • Successfully completed Vertical Directions Training.
  • Has a good understanding of all plant functions.
  • Good mathematical and statistical analysis skills.
  • Possesses basic knowledge of Minitab Statistical Software.
  • Good business orientation and financial analysis skills.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Basic Requirements:

  • Education: College degree not required.
  • Training: Must complete Team Accelerator, USG Green Belt program, and Vertical Directions.
  • Experience: Minimum of two years experience in manufacturing, supply chain or distribution preferred.
