USG Corporation Shipping Supervisor - Ceilings Plus in Los Angeles, California
Shipping Supervisor (SS) is "a member of Production" and an integral component in Ceilings Plus ability to service clients in a timely and professional manner striving for complete customer satisfaction in all areas of shipping and packaging. The SS serves the Supervisor for all shipping activities on any given production shift. The SS is responsible for the day to day safety of all employees that report to them, and all as all activities including but not limited to: Packaging; Loading Trucks; and documentation. They are to ensure that product gets to the designated location safely and complete via proper packaging and documentation. The Shipping Supervisor reports to the Warehouse Foreman.
These duties include: * Ensure the Safety of all team members in the shipping/packing department o Run and/or coordinate daily safety huddles of all teams on all shifts. o Provide coaching and mentoring on all aspects of safety as required. * Coordinate with production control and production foremen to ensure that RTM’s ship on the designated ship date. o Confirm daily and weekly ship lists from production control. o Coordinate (as required) scheduled project completion times from production foremen. Ideally, production control will provide an estimated timeframe on eta for product to be turned over to shipping. o Check CP Backlog in Smart Sheets to pre-plan and prepare for heavy workloads (as required) * Schedule packaging teams to ensure that product is being packed in a timely manner to make the designated pick up time. o Review daily packaging and shipping plan and goals with packaging leads on all shifts. Plan and goals should align with daily and weekly shipping list. o Manage staff levels in packing as required. * Supervise packing team to ensure product is packed in a manner that will ensure safe delivery to designated location. o Verify quality of packaging o Provide training/support for packing team as required o Make recommendations (as required) for improvements for the packaging team. * Supervise the creation of packing slip and other documentation required for shipments leaving Ceilings Plus. o Ensure that all shipments leaving Ceilings Plus have proper documentation according to CP Shipping Procedure o Ensure that all proper documentation for shipments are loaded onto L: drive and available to Project Managers upon completion of shipment. o Provide shipping/packaging support to Project Managers as required. * Coordinate with Logistics Manager on scheduling pick up times with freight carriers. Manage the proper and safe loading of freight. o Work with Logistics Manager to make sure that trucks are scheduled to arrive at Ceilings Plus at a manageable and planned schedule o Ensure packed material is staged and documented prior to truck arrival. o Manage the timely loading of freight trucks as to minimize the wait time per load and maximize the amount of trucks loaded per shift. o Ensure the proper loading of trucks to minimize freight damage and maximize load volume per shipment. * Coordinate any known back orders with Project Managers and Shift Leads/Scheduler to ensure that BO items get produced in a timely fashion. o Work as a back up to production and production control to notify and manage any Ceilings Plus back orders. * Special Projects as required.
Comprehensive knowledge of good shipping and logistics practice

5 years’ experience as a supervisor in a manufacturing/shipping organization
Must have analytical ability and computer literate to manage ISO documentation.
