The opportunity

Manulife is committed to becoming the digital, customer leader in our industry, and we are constantly seeking talented engineers to help us achieve this goal.

We are looking for a Senior Full-stack Software Engineer to join our Global Engineering Transformation team. In this role, you will be responsible for training our engineers, creating learning materials, developing and maintaining software systems, and delivering training programs. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in developing production software, proficiency in Azure, Cloud infrastructure, Terraform, and a passion for coaching and training engineers.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Global Software Engineering Training team to develop and implement training programs to deliver on Global up skilling Initiatives.

  • Create learning materials and resources as part of training curriculums.

  • Develop and maintain software systems as part of the upskilling initiatives.

  • Deliver training programs and provide coaching to engineers globally to enhance their skills and knowledge

  • Collaborate with our global engineering colleagues and help establish best practices.

  • Tech: MERN stack, Azure, Terraform, Github Actions, Kubernetes, Docker, GenAI Applications, and a lot more..

How will you create impact?

You directly report to the Global Technology, Engineering Manager for Asia. You will be part of the Engineering Transformation team that handles training, coaching and up skilling initiatives, catering to all engineers across different countries within the Asia Region. You’ll be part of the team that enables Manulife to deliver reliable and modern software systems globally.

What we are looking for

  • At least 6 years of proven experience in developing production software and strong understanding of software engineering best practices.

  • Experience developing fullstack software systems, frontend, backend, databases, cloud native applications, CI/CD, Event Driven Applications, ETL

  • Proficiency in Azure and experience in managing infrastructure

  • Ability to coach and train others

  • Ability to simplify and explain complex concepts

  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and presentation skills

  • Azure Certified Trainer (MCT) is an asset

Nice to have:

  • Azure certifications

  • Proficiency in both written and spoken Chinese

  • Understanding and experience with AI Systems and GenAI Applications
