We are looking for someone to fill our Production Manager position which is located at Target Center in Minneapolis, MN. Home of the MN Timberwolves and MN Lynx.

Job Summary

The Manager of Production’s primary focus is managing the production and back-of-house needs for all Target Center events, including MN Timberwolves games, MN Lynx games, family shows, concerts, and corporate events.

Essential DutiesOther duties may be assigned.

  • Forecast, manage, and coordinate all production needs for events including budgets, stage and production labor, lighting, sound, video, dressing rooms, offices, etc. Coordinate with tour personnel regarding production needs to determine what can be fulfilled in-house vs. what must be provided by an outside vendor to accommodate their needs.

  • Act as main liaison and point of contact between Target Center, the client, and event production staff on event days. Direct timing and location of activities to ensure a successful production. Provide direction to internal PT and FT event staff.

  • Using auto-cad technology, map the show elements, arrangements, and building configurations.

  • Participate in developing on-sale event information as needed.

  • Acquire and maintain a thorough understanding of IATSE Local 13 work rules. Work closely with the IATSE Stage Manager to schedule stagehand labor, riggers, fork list operators, and spotlight operators. In addition, will process stagehand payroll, ensuring it’s accurate and complete.

  • Collaborate with HR to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll for all employees. Responsibilities include verifying timesheets, ensuring compliance with company policies and union CBA, resolving payroll discrepancies, and providing support to HR staff regarding payroll-related inquiries.

  • Work closely with the Conversion department to ensure efficiency and quality of event set-up and production.

  • Actively participate in weekly event coordination meetings to proactively prepare for events with internal front-of-house staff and other arena personnel.

  • Develop and lead production-related capital expense projects, providing direct oversight during implementation. Examples of such projects may include a Side Curtain system, new arena LED lighting, and installation of fall protection.

  • Maintain “Tech Pack” to ensure that Target Center’s capabilities and services are current and ready to always share with clients; must be reviewed annually and updated immediately upon improvements.

Required Qualifications

  1. A minimum education level of: BA/BS Degree (4-year)

Area of Study: Theater or Film (design, sound and lighting focus) preferred.

  1. A minimum of 3-5 years of related work experience

  2. A minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience.

  3. Experience developing and managing budgets

  4. Superior organizational skills and the ability to multi-task are essential.

  5. Experience working under pressure and frequent deadlines is recommended.

Physical Demands:

• Ability to ascend/descend stairs and ladders, use manlifts and work in high conditions.

• Ability to kneel, stoop or otherwise position self under staging elements or on the arena floor to ensure safety.

• Ability to lift or otherwise move, install, or replace equipment and monitors weighing up to 50 lbs.

• Ability to stand or otherwise remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time.
