Lab Support Technician

This team provides EMC testing to global design teams. The person in this role will work on the next generation of electronics for CAT equipment including fully electric machines, autonomous systems, controls, sensors, and displays.

This job is for a Support Technician within the Component Products Department. In this role, the candidate will support projects in the lab by maintaining equipment, executing functional evaluations, and executing select test activities. Testing would include performance, electrical, environmental, and durability evaluations. Candidates will integrate with fellow technicians and engineering staff.

This position is a key contributor to a team of technicians that are executing development and validation testing. In this role, the incumbent will be responsible for analyzing field returns, basic functional evaluations and other testing, as directed by the work director and development technicians. The role will also entail logging metrics and ensuring test equipment is in good working condition and following prescribed maintenance schedules.

Day to day tasks

• Help client setup for test.

• Run tests.

• Troubleshoot failures found during testing.

• Whenever possible, provide regulatory and RF physics consulting help to clients.

• Document test results.

• Work with Sr. Technicians to plan tests and maintain test equipment.

• Work with EMC Engineers to provide EMC consulting about designs and regulations.

• Work with clients to troubleshoot their products and ensure test methods cover possible field conditions.
