Bay Baby Produce, Inc. Maintenance Technician in Mount Vernon, Washington

MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN

Bay Baby Produce, Inc. is a leading organic & conventional pumpkin and winter squash grower and packer seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to join our team. As a Maintenance Technician, you will play a critical role in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining farm and warehouse equipment to ensure efficient and safe operations. This includes vehicles, tractors, implements, trailers, irrigation equipment, conveyors, and production lines. All work must be performed with the highest quality assurance and in accordance with our standards of efficiency, safety, and food safety. You will report directly to the Maintenance Manager and work closely with other team members to support our farming and production operations. This is a full-time position on our farm located in Conway, Washington.

*RESPONSIBILITIES *

  • Diagnose and repair farm and production equipment as needed, including vehicles, tractors, implements, trailers, fuel tanks, irrigation equipment, conveyors, wash lines, etc.
  • Ensure that all farming and production equipment receives timely inspections and that preventative maintenance schedules are met.
  • Keep and maintain accurate records of all maintenance logs pertaining to corresponding equipment.
  • Prioritize crisis repairs during planting and production seasons to minimize downtime.
  • Conduct on-site/field repairs and maintenance promptly as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workstation and toolbox, ensuring that areas are free of clutter and debris.
  • Support food safety, quality, and continuous improvement activities in accordance with GAP, GMP, and Primus.
  • Design/fabricate replacement parts or equipment as needed.
  • Assist with monthly safety meetings as requested.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Three to five years of experience working with agricultural machinery, diesel/gas engines, and hydraulic systems.
  • Familiarity with electrical systems, including AC, DC, and 3 Phase.
  • Familiarity with welding, fabrication, and layout.
  • Confident ability to accurately troubleshoot problems using available information (schematics, diagrams, service literature, etc.) in order to repair a wide range of equipment.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs on a consistent basis.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license.

EXPECTATIONS OF ALL BBP EMPLOYEES

  • Help ensure company's compliance with all safety guidelines, policies and procedures according to OSHA, GMP, GAP, L&I, FDA, USDA, Primus, etc. standards and regulations
  • Report any concerns or incidents promptly to promote workplace safety
  • Attend daily or weekly team meetings to coordinate production goals
  • Communicate regularly with management team members

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

  • Employee will be paid an hourly rate of $26-$32 (DOE) with a review after 30, 60 and 90 days. Employee will be paid on a semimonthly schedule.
  • 5 days of paid vacation will be available to employee. Must be used within the year (January-December) and cannot be rolled over into the next year. Lead time for vacation is a two-week notice. Vacation time cannot be taken August 15^th^ -October 20^th^
  • Work hours will be extended as needed during the production season (Approx. May-November)
  • Health Benefits Plan with employer cost sharing. Employee cost will be determined by current market rate
  • 401(k) participation with employer contributions available after 365 days of employment and 1000 hours of service
  • Bonus incentive year end
