Position Summary

The Director of Global Retail, Strategic Sourcing is a new, strategic role that will be crucial in preparing our organization for breakthrough growth in retail. In partnership with the Executive Director of Global Retail, this leader will help define Operational Excellence strategies and standardized procedures, primarily focusing on the West Retail Organization (Europe, Middle East, Africa, and the Americas). Working closely and collaborating with each business unit, this role will understand each business model, local market dynamic, and supply chain processes to help translate global sourcing strategies into local execution. Additionally, this role will act as the primary conduit for global sourcing expertise. This position is pivotal in driving global efficiencies and executing collaborative initiatives to support retail business success.

Responsibilities

  • Leverage global market scope and scale to drive value to impact OP favorably.​

  • Encourage knowledge sharing and collaboration across the organization to leverage best practices, lessons learned, and industry benchmarks for continuous improvement and innovation, helping each SBU propel its operating profit.

  • Understand and stay current on supply chain industry trends, competitive landscape, and internal product development efforts.

  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of the entire portfolio of Bridgestone Retail businesses to Identify synergistic opportunities for transfer of retail sourcing best practices between different Bridgestone countries/regions.

  • Prioritize work and initiatives based on impact and feasibility.

  • Drive one-voice to market for strategic sourcing and deliver value considering global leverage of global suppliers or common categories.

  • Define Best Practices and establish a global sustainable SRM (Supply relationship management) and standardized Strategic Souring Initiative process (SSI – Sourcing Governance and Review)​.

  • Foster collaborative relationships with various SBU's to align on sourcing strategies Governance, to drive cost savings, innovation, quality improvement, and mutual growth.

  • Partner with procurement regional leads to run global negotiations of strategic relationships, vendor-managed inventory agreements, and implementation of new global sourcing standards for retail.

  • Promote supplier diversity initiatives to enhance innovation, resilience, and inclusivity within the supply chain while supporting local economies and communities.

  • Act as a thought leader in developing global strategic plans by coordinating individual retail groups’ visions of their businesses consolidated into a tangible cohesive narrative.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree ; 10+ years of relevant experience including 7+ years management or leadership experience or Master’s degree; 8+ years of relevant experience including 5-7 years management or leadership experience

  • Prior experience in negotiation with cost reduction and supplier management.

  • In-depth knowledge of procurement processes, industry best practices, and relevant regulations.

  • Analytical mindset with the ability to make data-driven decisions.

  • Experience working with cross-functional teams and/or global teams.

  • Ability to manage multiple simultaneous high-priority projects (often including project management of cross-functional teams and strategy partners).

  • Prior experience in a retail function or setting.

Nice to Have:

  • Certification in procurement (e.g., CSCP, CIPS)
