Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:This title is non-competitive. No examination is necessary. However, you must meet the Minimum Qualifications of the position: Two years of experience in design and manufacture of adaptive equipment for individuals with complex physical disabilities and conditions -OR- Two years of full performance carpentry, mechanical or related trade experience, one year of which must have been in the design and manufacture of adaptive equipment for individuals with complex physical disabilities and conditions.

Duties Description PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Duties will include the design, construction and maintenance of adaptive equipment throughout Wayne, Ontario, Seneca, Yates and surrounding counties as assigned by the Chief PT. Must be able to perform moderate to heavy manual labor, carry out written and verbal instructions and operate a motor vehicle. The position will require regular contact with the Adaptive Equipment Specialist team, service recipients, families, clinicians, residential and program staff and vendors/equipment suppliers. Provide input at seating and positioning clinics, check new equipment at delivery, repair specified durable medical equipment and provide in-service training to staff on the use of specialized equipment. Physical demands are considerable and include bending, lifting, standing, and walking. NYS driver's license is required for daily travel throughout the 10 county DDSO to cover adaptive equipment needs at residences, clinics, and day programs. Specific tasks assigned to this position include, but are not limited to design, construction, maintenance and repair of wheelchairs and other positioning, mobility and adaptive devices, shop maintenance, ordering and maintaining an inventory of supplies and equipment for emergent response and prioritizing work based upon critical need. Necessary and preferred shop skills include upholstery (machine sewing, working with various foams and upholstery materials); working with high and low temperature plastics (including forming and welding); metal working (including welding and brazing operations); woodworking; knowledge of low-volt electronics and switching applications, and safe operation of a variety of stationary and portable power tools and hand tools.https://www.linkedin.com/company/nys-office-for-people-with-developmental-disabilities/posts/?feedView=all#LI-KB1
