Job Description

Purpose

The Director, QA Strategy, is responsible for developing and implementing long-term plans and goals for the Quality Assurance organization. This role will lead our strategic planning and execution, provide individual leadership and consulting services for high-complexity transformational business programs in close collaboration with the QLT.

This individual will take a leading role in the planning, implementation, and sustainability of strategic initiatives. As well as developing and executing change management and communication activities in alignment with the business strategy. Must have a clear vision of where the organization is headed and the ability to communicate that vision to others. This position will report to the VP, Quality Assurance and EH&S.

Responsibilities

  • Directly supports the VP, QA and Quality leadership team with development, communication, and execution of strategic priorities and executive projects to advance the Quality organization.

  • Defines and develops the QA business strategy through an innovative perspective, and defines the mission, strategic imperatives and goals with the QLT. Oversees the execution; utilizes results of the execution to refine Quality strategies.

  • Identify the needs and gaps to support the strategic priorities. Including both internal priorities and needs as well as external trends and technology to build into the innovation strategy/plan. Work with leadership to fill gaps.

  • Establishes and maintains metrics and monitors execution of QA’s business operations, including QMR and EMR.

  • Manage change and transformation in QA to improve organizational effectiveness and deliver on strategic goals and maximizes opportunities to highlight best practices and shared learnings across QA teams.

  • Understands QA’s evolution, business operations, and priorities to effectively communicate, interact, and influence key internal/external stakeholder groups on behalf of Quality and Operations.

  • Leads and oversees the strategic planning and execution of the QLT staff meeting and strategic planning sessions. Drives preparation and follow-up actions across QA.

  • Leads cross departmental and cross-functional efforts to achieve functional strategies and goals.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • BA or BS degree required, advanced degree preferred (science, health care, technology/informatics, business management) and greater than or equal to 10 years of pharmaceutical experience, with demonstrated leadership success in a pharmaceutical or biotech company preferred.

  • Previous experience in a strategic role with strong communication skills, both orally and written

  • Able to adapt to changing circumstances and market conditions and be willing to take calculated risks to achieve their goals.

  • Must possess strong interpersonal skills and be able to build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders.

  • Able to challenge leaders and project teams to deliver desired/required outcomes

  • Acts with demonstrated ability to analyze complex change management issues and opportunities, foster innovation and the development of creative mechanisms for solving business issues, and plan/oversee effective implementation of business change projects

  • Possesses knowledge and a skill set to operate within an environment that requires a high degree of urgency, strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to manage multiple complex tasks simultaneously, and capable of performing as leader, team member and individual contributor.

  • Demonstrates disciplined project management expertise, effective group facilitation skills, and the ability to drive consensus amongst team members.

  • Preferred knowledge and a comprehensive understanding of biological and/or pharmaceutical technologies (sterile, biological, liquid, ointments, devices, solid tablets and caplets, suspensions, granulations, soft elastic capsules, gel caps, extended-release products, coating solutions, and/or active pharmaceutical ingredients).

Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range.
