USG Corporation Regional Human Resources Business Partner (Midwest/Ohio) in Ohio
As part of the shared services model, the regional human resources business partner will have accountability for meeting the overall human resources needs within the established Midwest (Cleveland, OH area). This role will provide guidance and support to managers on employee relations and human resources matters. This position will be accountable for managing the region's talent acquisition strategy, providing salary administration support, and employee development. Incumbent will serve as a resource to employees for questions and concerns. This position will report to the Division HR Business Partner.
TALENT ACQUISITION - Monitor staffing trends to project staffing needs and respond to changing labor market and business conditions; Work with CoE and local resource(s) to develop sourcing strategies for all hires; Assist with college recruiting activities; Pre-screen resumes and research internal candidates for promotions/transfers; Participate in salaried interviews and hourly reviews upon request; Facilitate the hourly hiring process; Provide guidance to locations on onboarding activities and answer questions from new hires that cannot be resolved by a representative at the location.
EMPLOYEE DEVELOPMENT / SUCCESSION PLANNING - Work with local managers to identify training needs for salaried and hourly employees; Deliver training and/or provide training infrastructure; Facilitate talent/succession reviews (i.e., 9-Box); Coordinate execution of diversity initiatives.
EMPLOYEE RELATIONS - Assist managers with development of labor relations/employee relations program and with resolving issues; Be accessible to employees to understand morale/engagement levels; When on site, conduct walkthrough and review employee facilities; Attend staff and business review meetings, employee communication meetings, etc.; Assist with investigations into significant allegations of employee or managerial misconduct; Manage the Complaint Resolution process; Review performance and discipline plans, participating as necessary; Analyze AAP data and develop an action plan, when needed; Coordinate agency charge responses and investigations.
SALARY & BENEFIT ADMINISTRATION - Direct the employee to the CoE Transaction Associate for completion of documentation such as retirement, wage and benefit changes, etc.; Complete unemployment claim information for termination for cause and participate in appeals and hearings, as necessary; Resolve leave of absence issues; Answer basic questions or refer employee(s) to appropriate CoE or vendor resource.
Bachelors degree required; Masters degree preferred. PHR or SPHR certification preferred.
Minimum of one (1) year human resources experience in a manufacturing or distribution setting required. Extensive knowledge of HR laws and practices. Capable to deliver training to groups of varying size and make-up. Proficient interviewing skills. Ability to coach employees and managers.
Strong communication skills (written and verbal) at all levels of the organization. Ability to provide thought leadership and influence, and maintain collaborative partnerships. Strong employee relations focus and strong listening skills.
Strong organizational skills, including time management. Ability to manage multiple, competing priorities. Ability to work independently and with a team.
Must be willing to travel up to 50% within an assigned region. Incumbent will need to live within the region (Ohio/Michigan).
