ESG Operations, an Inframark Company, is hiring a service technician to join our fleet maintenance team in Opelika, AL. We would ask you to assist with the maintenance and repair of vehicles. You would be responsible for changing the oil and repairing flat tires on vehicles, assisting with emergency service calls, and maintaining the cleanliness of the work area. The position works under direct supervision according to set procedures.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled maintenance on vehicles, such as changing the oil and filters or rotating or replacing worn tires.

  • Respond to service calls, change flat tires, charge batteries, or make minor roadside repairs; assist with traffic management at the site as required.

  • Assist automotive equipment mechanics with vehicle repairs.

  • Fill out work orders on completed repair or maintenance tasks, including work performed, time required to complete tasks, and parts used.

  • Participate in cleaning and maintenance of work area and shop equipment.

  • Perform other tasks as directed by the supervisor.

  • Attend safety classes, reinforce and comply with company safety policies

  • Work harmoniously with ESG employees and the public and comply with ESG policies

Qualifications

Requires two years of related experience. High School Diploma or GED and the equivalent of specialized vocational training in automotive mechanics or a closely related field. Must have a valid state commercial driver’s license and meet minimum driving standards.

Knowledge of:

  • Requiring minimum responsibility for only small quantities of low cost items or supplies where opportunities for achieving economies or preventing loss are negligible.

  • Addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division; may compute ratios, rates, and percentages.

  • Guiding others, requiring a few decisions, affecting the individual and a few co-workers; works in a stable environment with clear and uncomplicated written/oral instructions but with some variations from the routine.

  • Making decisions with very minor impact - affects only the individual.

Skill in:

  • Handling or using machines, tools, equipment or work aids involving some latitude for judgment regarding attainment of a standard or in selecting appropriate items.

Ability to:

  • Copy, transcribe, enter, or post data or information.

  • Attend to the needs or requests of people and exchanges information with them.

  • Read simple sentences or instructions; write simple sentences; speak simple sentences using basic grammar.

  • Perform semi-routine work involving set procedures and rules, but with frequent problems; requires normal attention with short periods of concentration for accurate results or occasional exposure to unusual pressure.
