· Must be able to perform this job safely. · Must be able to operate the co-generation facility in an operator role prior to the supervisory role. · Must be able to enter, update and investigate safety incidents in safety database in a timely manner. · Maintain safe working conditions for all power house employees and ensure their compliance with Plant Safety Programs. Coordinate fire prevention activities (i.e. training) on a plant-wide basis. · Directly supervise the department's activities to maintain an uninterrupted supply of steam and electrical power to the paper mill operation (covering the operator position as required in emergency situations). Facilitate repairs as needed with mechanical inclination to address situations personally if the situation allows. · Ensure that power house and fire prevention/control equipment is effectively maintained in efficient and functional condition. Investigate and integrate technical improvements where applicable to increase efficiency. · Conduct a continuing in-plant skills training program for power house employees with an emphasis on proper employee response to upset conditions. Annually review and update the materials to reflect process changes. · Maintain well organized and accurate records relating to equipment maintenance, process efficiency, government agency reports, permits and material requisitions. · Develops and coordinates and comprehensive equipment PM program contributing to the total plant objective of maximum profit on a continuing basis through low delay, improved productivity, and maintenance cost control. · Ensure compliance with local, state, Factory Mutual and Company environmental and safety regulations. Recommend and implement corrective actions which can be made to meet this goal. · Can read and follow basic P&ID’s, electrical one-lines, mass and energy balances, etc. · Has experience with PLC and DCS operations. · Responsible for maintaining a high level of morale within the department to aid productivity and employee retention. · Display compentencies in the following areas: communication, decision making/problem solving, developing others, energy, drive, ambition, job knowledge, leadership, managing conflict/negotiation, managing resources, and work quality.
_Qualifications_: * * • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering preferred. • 5 years of prior Co-Generation experience. • 5-7 year’s gas turbine with heat recovery unit experience preferred. • Higher level computer skills using Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel. • CEMS experience preferred. • NIULPE Second Class Power Engineer preferred.
