The Opportunity

This role is on a hybrid schedule, in office weekly with some remote days

The Sr HR Advisor is a part of a team of HR Advisors responsible for supporting Ally employees in all things HR, with an emphasis on the moments that matter (onboarding, performance & feedback, accessing HR services & resources, addressing employee concerns, taking leave, and exiting the organization). Activities will include mentoring employees (both peers and subordinates) to improve results, exhibit leadership behaviors, expand knowledge base, and facilitate development; Acting as a coach and mentor to offer creative solutions to complex issues using multi-disciplined approach; Understanding, determining and owning all metrics, objectives, budgets, and related drivers; strive to exceed related targets; Ensuring that investigations are thorough and include an understanding of the allegations, appropriate interviews, analysis, documentation and recommendations for conclusion and course of action; Evaluating and analyzing data and people metrics to determine HR issues impacting the business unit and provide proactive and actionable talent insights that improve organizational effectiveness and health; Building and implementing programming that develops managerial capability and positively impacts culture and team morale; Programmatically manage the efficient delivery of HR programs related to workforce planning, employee engagement, performance management, compensation and talent development while ensuring client partners are aligned; Support performance review process, open enrollment, and moments that matter to aligned employee population.

The Work Itself

  • Serve as a trusted advisor who guides employees through all things HR, with an emphasis on the moments that matter (onboarding, performance & feedback, accessing HR services & resources, addressing employee concerns, taking leave, and exiting the organization)
  • Act as a coach and mentor to offer creative solutions to complex issues using multi-disciplined approach
  • Provide compensation guidance in alignment with Ally's pay for performance culture and support annual compensation planning process
  • Support performance management culture including active coaching and employee development
  • Strong ability to adopt a positive and flexible approach and be comfortable in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Serve as expert communicator with a knack for relaying information, both written and verbal, in a succinct, effective, and engaging manner
  • Partner with HR Business Partners to activate team specific talent strategies and ensure employee and business needs are met
  • Support performance review process, open enrollment, and moments that matter to aligned employee population

  • Report to a Director of Human Resources Advisory Services

The Skills You Bring

  • 3+ years of progressive experience as a human resources practitioner
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong relationship management skills with experience in partnering with, coaching, and building credibility with employees and managers
  • Ability to use professional concepts and company policies to creatively solve a wide range of difficult problems
  • Ability to use judgment, creativity, and sound technical knowledge to obtain and recommend solutions
  • Superior knowledge of employment law; independently manages complex employee relations issues (preferred)
  • Experience supporting the implementation of a talent strategy, employee engagement, and culture building programs (preferred)
  • Project management skills. Ability to drive projects from conception to completion
  • Builds relationships and fosters teamwork; achieves mutual objectives by informing and involving others in solving problems and communicating changes
  • Strong problem-solving skills, able to use logic and structured thinking to produce effective solutions. Looks beyond the obvious to uncover hidden problems and doesn’t stop at the first answer
  • Ability to independently prioritize workload; demonstrates initiative and manages multiple, competing priorities with attention to detail
  • Capable of balancing both the strategic and operational; can flex between a strategic approach and effective delivery and execution
  • PHR, SPHR, or SHRM-CP certification recommended and ability obtain within 1 year

Base Pay Range:

Emerging: 70000

Experienced: 95000

Expert: 120000

Incentive Compensation: This position is eligible to participate in our annual incentive plan
