DESCRIPTION OF WORK This Legal Assistant 1 is responsible for administrative and legal clerical support. The work includes but is not limited to typing, formatting and proofreading.  Your responsibilities will include researching, updating and processing legal documents such as assignments, petitions, subpoenas, hearing notices, etc. pertaining to workers' compensation claims. You will have the opportunity to prepare, maintain, and update files, spreadsheets and claimant records necessary for the overall operation of the section.

Within this role, you may perform other clerical support duties, such as handling mail, answering the telephone, scanning files, faxing, using a copy machine, maintaining a calendar, and managing office equipment.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment. Work hours are 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch. Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. Three days in the office and two teleworking anticipated after completion of training period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Scranton. Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Three years of responsible clerical, enforcement or investigative work; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Additional Requirements: You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Preferred Qualifications (not required): College coursework pertaining to legal studies. Experience working in the legal field. Previous employment in a legal office position.
