The International Admissions Counselor (Counseling Services Coordinator (NE S 6)) will support university enrollment efforts by representing the University of Washington Bothell to prospective students, families, and educational partners and will be directly responsible for the execution of recruitment strategies to ensure the university’s enrollment goals are successfully met.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Recruiting

  • Develop and implement recruitment plans for assigned programs and territories which will include on-site and virtual events such as college fairs, school visits, workshops, advising appointments, and other recruitment activities.

  • Represent UW Bothell at domestic and international community colleges, high schools, community events, and college fairs. Independent travel could be as much as 10-12 weeks each year.

  • Utilize CRM to generate and review reports and queries to aid in developing plans for recruitment.

  • Generate applications and enrollments through the cultivation of relationships within assigned programs and territories to meet established goals.

  • Support all recruiting and advising activities through the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.

  • Lead community and business outreach efforts to recruit a diverse and academically talented student population.

  • Participate in on-campus recruitment events such as Preview Days, Admitted Student Days, and specialized campus visits and information sessions.

  • Engage in ongoing strategic communications to include phone calls, text messaging, email, and other media to ensure high conversion/yield rates

  • Work closely with campus stakeholders to execute strategies to meet enrollment goals.Counseling

  • Counsel prospective students through in-person meetings, group information sessions, phone, e-mail, or web communications, regarding major courses of study, career options, program eligibility requirements, degree requirements, admission requirements, and the opportunities available at the university.

  • Deliver information sessions in person and via Zoom.

  • Convey key international admissions policies, procedures, and institutional messages to the public, prospective international applicants and families, including basic F1 student visa status regulations.

  • Participate in the professional international admissions and international advising community to strengthen professional knowledge base and to reinforce UW Bothell name recognition.

  • Build and maintain relations with UW Bothell academic programs, student resource departments, and external constituents, and make referrals for students to appropriate services.

  • Maintain ongoing, thorough knowledge of academic, co-curricular, and financial aid programs to provide comprehensive and factual information that will allow prospective students to make informed decisions.

  • Collaborate with the International Student Services office to ensure quick and efficient I-20 issuance and a successful International Student Orientation program.Admission Processing

  • Conduct holistic application review and ratings of assigned applications.

  • Serve on Admissions Committees as needed and act as a liaison with assigned programs and schools.

  • Work with Operations Team to ensure timely processing of applications and updating of records as needed.

  • Meet application review deadlines to allow for admission decisions to be released on schedule.

  • Utilize CRM to assist with updating student records and school contacts.Department Support

  • Participate in planning to achieve the goal of increasing applications and enrollment of international students. Collaborate with the team to implement the recruitment plan.

  • Provide feedback and analysis to the Manager regarding successes with and challenges of recruiting international students.

  • Maintain the web presence, including social media, for international recruitment

  • Supervise the Student Marketing Assistant

  • Participate in the creation and updating of web and print materials used for recruitment.Other Duties as Assigned (10%)

  • Will include but not limited to the following:

  • Attend professional development conferences, workshops, and events that will increase knowledge and competency in admissions counseling.

  • Contribute to and support the implementation and maintenance of innovative recruiting and advising strategies, with particular responsibility for assigned academic programs and territories.

  • Contribute to on-line and printed advising materials. Website updates.

  • Supervise a student assistant who will support marketing and social media efforts.

  • Attend and support department and university events including Commencement Move In Days, Convocation, and others as requested. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, Business, Psychology, or related degree;

  • At least 2 years’ experience in recruiting, advising, counseling or similar experience with diverse populations in an educational setting.

  • Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Knowledge and experience of admissions processes.

  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Proven track record of meeting and exceeding measurable goals.

  • Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with colleagues, the public, students, faculty, and diverse community members including those from various cultural and socio-economic groups.

  • Ability to use technology to collect data, create reports, and document work.

  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally. Have a valid passport.

  • Presentation and advising skills that demonstrate commitment to best methods including use of technology.

  • Must be dependable, accurate, have attention to detail, be a good team member, and possess an empowering attitude and patient temperament to work with a variety of student situations.

  • Valid driver’s license. DESIRED REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience with international first year admissions recruitment.

  • Experience working with international populations as well as an understanding of cultural differences and their effect on college planning.

  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and policies related to student records, information systems, admissions, and registration.

  • Experience reviewing admissions applications.

  • Experience using a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system.

  • Experience with the UW or a similar research university.

  • We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic about the UW, has a strong work ethic, and exercises sound judgment, professionalism, and maturity. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • Standard work hours are Monday through Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm with work performed primarily in-person in an office setting on-campus. A hybrid schedule with remote work options is available.

  • Must be able to enter other countries legally.

  • Work will be performed domestically and internationally both in person and via email, phone, Zoom.

  • Evening and weekend work is required on occasion and as needed.

  • Travel is required out of state with up to 12 weeks per year traveling internationally.

  • Must be willing to travel in all weather conditions.

  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and US Passport.

  • Must be able and willing to operate a university vehicle.

  • Must be able to lift/move approximately 50 pounds of recruiting materials, displays, and equipment.

  • This is a new small team and this position will need to work independently, be a self-starter, demonstrate initiative and work with a manager who is not on site every day.
