Job Description

Job Summary

Monitor and operate central utility systems (including steam boilers, compressed air, central air pollution control, process and sanitary wastewater collection and treatment, deionized water, process water, potable water, nitrogen, cooling tower water, chilled water, and fire protection) at a pharmaceuticals manufacturing plant. Ensures utilities services provided to manufacturing operations are continuously available and meet required specifications.

Job Responsibilities:

Monitor and operate utility systems, including steam boilers, compressed air, process and sanitary wastewater collection and treatment, deionized water, process water, potable water, nitrogen, and chilled water systems.

Monitor and operate NESHAP and PEG equipment, thermal oxidizers, scrubbers, waste heat boiler, and cooling towers.

Perform equipment and process troubleshooting.

Work with Stationary Engineer and Process Engineer on duty.

Respond to power plant emergencies or plant-wide emergencies as directed.

Work in a safe manner and maintain a safe/clean work area.

Participate in all required safety and regulatory training.

Stand and walk for long periods of time while working.

Be able to lift at least 50 pounds and pass a physical assessment before being hired.

Other duties as assigned.

DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC/NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Work a rotating shift schedule and are subject to mandatory overtime requirements.

REQUIREMENTS:

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience:

At least 3-5 years of industrial experience in a central utility plant.

Demonstrated knowledge in the instrument and controls field.

Computer proficiency for utility operations as well as data gathering and analysis.

D.I. water system experiences a plus.

A working knowledge of mechanical equipment, including air compressors, pumps, fans, steam boilers, chillers and cooling towers.

Preferred Skills/Qualifications:

Skills/Competencies: - City of St. Louis Class 1 Stationary Engineer license strongly preferred.

This position pays $43.14 per hour.
