Job Summary

Supports Operations by conducting verifications and audits on the production floor at various stages of production process. Compiles and evaluates statistical data to determine and maintain quality and reliability of products, reporting deviations to management. Uses instruments to verify conformity to standards of product. Suggests or recommends changes regarding special requirements as needed. Assists in implementing the Food Safety and/or trains others on total quality management.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

· Approves incoming materials and finished product by verifying COA to specifications .

· Audits the incoming materials inspection process by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; Managing rejecting and returning unacceptable materials

· Approves finished products by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests;

· M anages shelf-life program and production tasting samples.

· Documents inspection results by completing reports and logs; summarizing re-work and

waste; inputting data into quality database

· Manages operations data such as training logs and employee observations.

· Keeps measurement equipment operating by following operating instructions

· Accompanies outside contractors and service providers during site visits

· M aintains safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations

· Maintain s , organize s , and clean s work area s and equipment

· Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications

· Assist s in Internal audits and daily walk throughs as needed

· Support s 3 rd party and customer audits, as needed , such as maintaining and providing quality documentation.

· Assist s with hold and non-conformance investigations

· Communicates necessary information regarding quality programs and processes within the facility

· Follow up with appropriate personnel on action items

· Communicate s quality needs for supplies

· Attend s staff and department meetings

· Performs all other duties as assigned

· Adhere to ERU food safety policies and all government food safety and sanitation regulations (ex. FDA, HACCP, GMP, OSHA, FSSC 22000)

Qualifications / Minimum Requirements

· Minimum of an Associate’s Degree in a Sciences related field or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred

· T wo years of quality inspection experience strongly preferred

· Ability to complete HACCP certification within the first year

· Previous microbiology and food safety training, preferred

· Knowledge of cheesemaking, Pasteurization Milk Ordinance (PMO), and food safety, preferred

· Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers, fractions, decimals, and percentages

· Ability to perform mathematic conversion calculations such as calculating temperature, converting weights, product content, etc.

· Intermediate computer skills including e-mail, word processing, and spreadsheets

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills

· Ability to work with automated equipment

· Ability to multi-task and prioritize under pressure

· Excellent organization and problem-solving skills

· Detail-oriented nature

· Ability to work with moderate supervision

· May be required to work overtime if deemed necessary with occasional weekend work.

· Occasional t ravel maybe required within town or to other locations
